how old is he? That's very quick. But then, look at his parents. Did you know that when koalas are born they are the size of coffee beans, and have to crawl from the uterus up into th pouch? when I volunteered at the zoo in Boston one summer we got 2 koalas from the san diego zoo. We had to prepare for months-build a special enclosure, because they are so delicate and need to be protected from all germs,etc. One of our keepers had to fly to calif to fly them back, first class. They are incredibly antisocial-not even hanging out with other koalas, except to mate. Andm since they eat nothing but eucalyptus leaves, which have almost no caloric value, they sleep about 23 hours a day and when awake are not what you'd call speedy.
