Bring sugar and golden syrup to the boil slowly in a large heavey saucepan, stirring all the time as it will burn easily. 2 cups sugar
Three quarters cup cold water
1 tablespoon brown vinegar
Sprinkles (optional)

Place all ingredients in saucepan. Stir over heat till sugar dissolves. Bring to boil – do not stir. Cook till syrup is golden brown. Remove from heat and allow bubbles to settle. Pour into small patty cake papers. If desired, decorate with sprinkles.

Hi Jacula, Dorens, I think they originally came from Russia then went to England and then onto Canada. I believe my grandfather had 7 or 8 brothers and one sister. We lost track of them a long time ago. I do have a cousin in Canada that I communicate with I should ask her if any migrated to Albany.

*sigh* if only, chj -- the manufacturer of this home declared bankruptcy six months after we bought it. This last winter we discovered that the skylight in the office was leaking and rather than dripping into the room going down the slope to the wall. Dry rot in several places. I think it was leaking the whole time. But it wasn't discovered soon enough for us to make a claim before the court-imposed deadline several years ago.
