'santen' - made from cocos? Not used in english?
3:41 am
lynxxx

3:43 am

I googled, only gives dutch sites with recipes :)

3:45 am
lynxxx
Thats what I am thinking too Rolin. Can it be melted Sprite?
3:46 am
rolin
no its not what sprite was thinking of...cphoa is vegetable fats
3:46 am
rolin
i just cant get the equivalent here....so many sweets i cant make
3:46 am
sprite
Yes, it can be melted and used in curries etc.
I am thinking, the word might come from Indonesia. We have many words from there, because lots of people from Indonesia live here.
3:46 am
lynxxx
Rolin - I think copha is made from cocnuts - not vegetables
3:47 am
rolin
so it is...just googled it...
3:48 am
sprite
Coconut cream concentrate, is probably what you call it
3:48 am
lynxxx
Rolin - maybe look for Sprites Santen - just might be the same thing
3:48 am
rolin
but its not a milk like sprite is saying...it wouldnt solidify...
3:48 am
sprite
santen is solid, you have to dissolve it to use it.
3:49 am

3:52 am
sprite
hi Eva, think fiances, bethrowthed

sprite
I really messed up spelling that last word, didn't I!
3:53 am
Eva

3:54 am
sprite
rolin, this is what wikipedia says: In New Zealand, it is marketed as Kremelta. In the United States, it is not easily available. (Copha, that is)
3:54 am
Eva
never heard of it here and I do a lot of cooking and buying of weird ingredients
3:54 am
rolin
yup... i found a similar entry somewhere else...its fabulous stuff...and i should have brought it back with me last summer...but im habing my son put together a care package...with some included..sad i know..
3:55 am
Eva
so what exactly is it?
3:55 am
rolin
eva...its great...what do you use to make rice krispies solidify?
3:56 am
rolin
eva...it comes in a white opaque block..it melts at low temp and resolidifies really easily
3:56 am
sprite
rolin, here I read: "You can get copha from the Australian gift shop in Covent Garden, London"
3:56 am
Eva
haven't ever made them, but I think it's the cereal plus marshmallow fluff and maybe karo syrup? Someone else would know better
3:56 am
rolin
yes... i have been known to slobber over the screnn at their web site..lol
3:56 am
Eva
it's made of coconut?
3:57 am
rolin
coconut oil
3:57 am
sprite
it is made of the oil of coconuts. It is not the same as 'santen' or coconut cream.
3:59 am
Eva

Hurrah for Google: Copha is vegetable shortening made of solidified coconut oil. The product is used in cookies and other desserts. While infrequently used in the US it is quite popular in Australia.

4:47 am
BabbleRabble
9 is correct
4:47 am
lynxxx
Yes and I usually do, but with only 3 left I thought some-one wouldn't mind helping e out Cyborg
4:47 am
sprite
9 in total, lynxxx
4:47 am
sprite
don't mind at all, lynxxx, just call
4:47 am
lynxxx
Thankyou BabbleR & Sprite
4:48 am
CyborgScrabbler
But if your not looking then I should not let you know what I saw either
4:48 am
Andree
thx cyborg and sprite, a fish for that one, lol
4:48 am
sprite
we all babble in our own way, Cyborg.
4:48 am
BabbleRabble
Don't then... play your games as you see fit
4:49 am
Andree
if I only had 3 left i would not get list either lynxxx
4:50 am
CyborgScrabbler
it does not seem right to ask someone else what they saw in the clues and then carry on as if you had not looked at them
4:50 am
Andree
13 left here
4:50 am
CyborgScrabbler
at the end of the game, it makes no difference anyhow, as long as you got the right words
4:50 am
sprite
sorry you feel that way, Cyborg, I certainly don't mind
4:50 am
kittychan
I don't understand what difference it makes? Is it just a matter of pride or does it go to score or something else tangible?
4:50 am
Andree
thats like saying we should not look at clues in chat cyborg
4:51 am
BabbleRabble
and you are entitled to your opinion... but that is what it is ... one person's opinion
4:51 am
Andree
it is only a game!
4:52 am
CyborgScrabbler
Exactly kitty
4:52 am
sprite
nope it doesn't, kitty, we usually help each other out, especially when one of us has finished. There is a difference between looking at a list and asking for one specific total of letters, but hey, it is a game. We play as we like and help as we like - no obligations.
4:52 am
Andree
due to time restraints i would never get more than 1/2 way without resorting to list
4:53 am
Andree
but i love getting as far as i can without list
4:53 am
CyborgScrabbler
If you ask something in chat which you can find out for yourself, then you should find it out for yourself
4:53 am
sprite
I usually play without lists, but I gratefully use the clues in the log and I ask for some as well. Most of all, I think we should not tell others how to play.
4:53 am
BabbleRabble
That is YOUR opinion
4:54 am
CyborgScrabbler
Yes it is my opinion
4:54 am
BabbleRabble
and NOTHING more
4:54 am
Andree
but that applies to words to, we could all go to mre words and stop chat, perish that thought
4:54 am
ch1212
Babble is a metaphor for life in many ways. Some people prefer to 'go it alone' and others prefer to lean on each other for support. Some do both. All are good.
4:54 am
sprite
which I don't share, Cyborg. So lynxxx, feel free to ask, and Cyborg, feel free to ignore both question and answer.
4:55 am
CyborgScrabbler
I think it is rude and lazy to ask something you can find out yourself, clues for words are fine because the player just cannot see the word
4:56 am
sprite
Yes Cyborg, you made your point, thanks. I have never found lynxx to be rude or lazy.
4:56 am
BabbleRabble
We know what you think. You simply belabor for your own reasons
4:56 am
Andree
i don't think there is any reason to call anyone rude or lazy
4:56 am
lynxxx
That's taking it a bit far now Cyborg - you just called me rude and lazy. You have my permission to tally ignore anything I might ask in future., Thankyou
4:57 am
Andree
way to go lynxxx
4:57 am
sprite
right with you there, lynxxx
4:58 am
Andree
ask away lynxxx
4:58 am
BabbleRabble
Good for you lynxx
4:58 am
CyborgScrabbler
Lyn, I do not just mean you I am referring to ALL those who do it, like movieman, he asked for 15 clues the other day for something or the other because me would not look at the list
4:58 am
sprite
so... any help needed on those last 2 words. lynxxx? :D
4:58 am
ch1212
is the in9 related to the in8?
4:58 am
lynxxx
I'm actually fine to find my last 3 - Sprite narrowed it down enough for me
4:59 am
sprite
you can always ignore the chat, Cyborg. I wouldn't mind.
4:59 am
sprite
it's the plural, ch
4:59 am
Yvo
Cyborg dont read the chat,to me it has been and will be a big help with all the clues given
4:59 am
ch1212
Wow, I would not have guessed that -- thanks, sprite.
5:00 am
sprite
was clued to me as well, ch1212 :)
5:00 am
CyborgScrabbler
clues are fine and good, but not asking how many 8's there are and listing all the ones you have in the chat log
5:01 am
sprite
You are repeating yourself, Cyborg. I am going to ignore your posts about the same thing now, I don't feel you are contributing anything worthwile right now.
5:01 am
ch1212
cyborg, you sound as if you want everyone to play the game according to your rules, instead of you allowing for the differences among us. Please, have patience with us.
5:01 am
CyborgScrabbler
whatever
5:02 am
mom23
Sigh, Cy--just play the *!)#$% game your own way--ignore the log and let the rest of us play ours
5:02 am
BabbleRabble
Cyborg, in the end, how does this effect you? Each of us plays for out own reasons. This is not a competition for me. There are no rules; just curtesy and getting along. Trying to force your views on others is quite arrogant.
5:03 am
sprite
hear hear, I second that.
5:03 am
CyborgScrabbler
I am not forcing my views, just stating them, you have the power of decision
5:04 am
mom23
Good grief--now we have power! Who knew?!
5:04 am
Andree
babble power,lol
5:05 am
mom23
If I had "real" power, I'd finish this grid on my own every day (not just the one time ever)--w/o any clues. Yeah, like that's gonna happen!
5:06 am
sprite
stating and restating and restating - what was the def of forcing again?
5:06 am
Yvo
cyborg you have once berated me and told me to look it up myself , dont adress me anymore ,i dont like your complaines ,just play and contibute something worthwhile.
5:06 am
ch1212
cyborg, follow the link to Babbler's Anonymous - there are a number of postings regarding the issue of list versus no list, and clue asking and so on. You might find some of that feedback helpful; there is even one other babbler like you who wants everyone to play the game "her way".
5:06 am
sprite
hey mom, I still think every word you find is just great, it is for me still. All the rest is teamwork :)
5:07 am
ch1212
lol sprite -- are you referring to the adage of what is it called when you keep hitting your head against a brick wall and expecting different results?
5:07 am
CyborgScrabbler
I am not telling anyone how to play the game, I am saying I find it rude to ask something you can find out for yourself by looking at the list
5:08 am
sprite
lol ch, yes, that is very close to what I mean
5:08 am
Yvo
drop it,your spoiling my Sunday
5:08 am
sprite

5:11 am
sugar
I loved the snow on Thursday, ron - did you get it too?
5:11 am
CyborgScrabbler
Yes, this is a chat log, and you say everyone can give an opinion, but when it does not agree with what you think, you start saying ignore mode guys, what a sad narrowminded state of affairs
5:12 am
Andree
some welcome rain here today
5:12 am
sprite
ignore mode is not for opinions, it is for repeating same opinions again and again and again and again.

Well Jen, I fully agree with that :)

There was magician on a cruise ship, and he was really good.
He was performing the highlight of his show when a parrot walked onstage and squawked, ''It's in his sleeve!''
The magician chased the bird away.
The next day the magician was performing his highlight again (in front of a smaller audience) when the parrot walked onstage and declared, ''It's in his pocket!''
The next day, as he was performing the highlight, he saw the parrot in the crowd. But before the parrot could ruin the magic trick, the boat crashed into a rock and sank.
The magician was lucky enough to find a board to hang on to. On the other end of the board was the parrot.
They stared at each other for three full days, neither of them saying anything, when suddenly the parrot said, ''I give up, what'd you do with the ship?''

i just love it when you put in a word, thinking it isn't really a word..then , it ...whal la!! it is!! lol
1:17 pm
Haz1558
Ishbalin - first the pa6/21 - a type of leather, intellectual property rights - form it by adding a canvas structure to pa. The sort of canvas structure you go camping in.
1:17 pm
momof3boys
like...the sn word...
1:18 pm
Haz1558
Then make it past tense for pa8/50. For pa8/45 - take off the last letter and replace it with the next letter along in the alphabet. You will thus have a word ending in two vowels.
1:19 pm
BabbleRabble
Congratulations, dan2bit
1:19 pm
Haz1558
pa6/24 - the past tense of what you do when you stroke or caress a companion animal. Or add the shortened form of Ireland's patron saint with the Priest from the TV series - Father ***
1:20 pm
Haz1558
Then , for the pa6/21 after that, make it the companion animal receiving the strokes. Do it in the same way as with the pa8 words. Take off the last letter and replace it with the next letter in the alphabet. Result - Ireland's shortened saint combined with a golfing term

peri, I've recently been in a curry craze, and have found out some interesting things... the term curry actually just means "stew" the british used it to try and describe the flavors found in indian foods. In India, there is no such thing as "curry powder" or "curry spice" but all different blends of cardamom, cumin, pepper, cilantro, coriander, and other spices... they will vary greatly depending on the region you are in too... neat huh?
