I would like to point out that some 90% (I don't have the article in front of me, but the statistic was really high) of the kids that have commited these atrocities were on some form of medication, side effects included depression.

There are plenty of folks out there who are not religions yet are thoughtful, considerate, etc. Unfortunately, there are also many who use their religion as justification for things they do, including irrational acts of hate, etc. And so many people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions. If we allow our children to grow up surrounded by violence on TV, in movie theatres and in reading material without appropriate discussion and supervision, what can we expect? Even what they see on the news happens so often that to them it is commonplace. I think the movie industry needs to be censored if they won't do it themselves and that the media should spend as much time reporting the consequences as they do the violence.
