No, they're completely different. Some are written about Isabel Dalhousie, a kind of philosopher, others are based on his series in the Scotsman newspaper about a fictional address called 44 Scotland Street - it features stories about the various inhabitants. I have been know to laugh out loud at some of their adventures.

In our village there is a great cat rescue organization called the Ten Lives Club, so they have adoptees at various places in town, including the vet's. There are kitten brothers, maybe 10 wks old and so DAMN cute. One is orange and one is grey, and they have to be adopted together. The staff put mini-bandanas on them. Has anybody else read 'The Pi5/12 shop on the left bank' by T E Cathcart. It's a factual book, based around the author's experiences of buying a pi5/12from a pi5/12 shop in Paris (hence the left bank). He goes into amazing detail about how the instruments are constructed, their history etc. It's technical but so interesting - and of course there's the bonus of it being set in Paris.
