No, westford - that's not what you'd call 'near' us, but it's driveable. I'm not in Surrey anymore, although we did live there (our family) for a while, when I was growing up . . . the area we were in is now part of Greater London.

all our chooks are rehomed battery hens- the lot we have at the moment could not even walk when we got them , and had hardly any feathers. Now they are fully feathered, laying lovely eggs (sorry jc) and wander about under blue skys and lovely shady trees

Oh I love dogs - all dogs. I have a deep appreciation for the different breeds, and the only reason I wouldn't buy a purebred from a breeder, is because of how desperate the plight of shelter dogs currently is. Mongrels in shelters are far less likely to get homes than purebred puppies - so that's what I go for.
