A question for the birders out there. About an hour ago there was a pair of birds in the trees...they were backlit, the sun wasn't up completely, so I couldn't make out detail-but the shape was very much like a pigeon, mourning doves, but they seemed quite a bit larger. And they were way up in the tree, eating berries or something off of the tree. Any guesses? Usually when I see doves here they are ground feeding. Do grouse ever go up that high?

We've had a string of cat tragedies in the area recently. Four of my friends have lost theirs. Two to old age, but the other two completely unexpected. One yesterday, a one year old, who snuck into the crafts room, swallowed thread with a needle on it and damaged his esophagus so badly that he had to be put down. I feel so awful for my friend. She feels guilty, but there's no way to avoid all of the accidents that can happen however careful one is.

i had to dig out my car so Tom could got to work. The blowing snow stung like sand.

we definitely got nailed, my son is a was running a huge loader to rescue stranded motorists and open roads, he said he went through some 15 foot drifts
