My son once dressed our very small whippet Clancy in a cossie, which he thought resembled a pirate's outfit. He was in a play at the local fete. When our kids were very young, we'd leave my husband and hers to give out candy, and my sister-in-law and I would take the kids to the neighbors, but only on their street, to people we knew. And later there would be a block-BBQ, Imagine going to a strange neighbourhood, and letting your kid accept candy from a stranger.
