Yes, ruru, I know you've been estranged from your family, which is so sad. At least you have each other now.
The thing I don't understand about my situation is that we've been getting along fine and I've so enjoyed my son's visits here and our Christmas get-togethers. It's just the thoughtlessness just now that hurts, and the message that my son has just been too busy to be bothered. But his "busy" is totally unprofitable -- he has no steady income and they have a mountain of debt. I have had to help them out quite often.
