He died here at home, in my arms, a week ago this evening. He was getting weaker but that morning he still hopped around and ate his morning salad. When I put his evening salad in front of him he did not show interest. I picked him up and he began taking big gasps. I wrapped him up in a blanket, sat on the couch, and within 2 minutes he was gone. I wonder if he was waiting to go until I was with him. I feel fortunate to have had him for 9 yrs (avg lifespan for bunnies = 6-8 yrs) and for holding when he died. (no euthanasia)

It is so hard when our beloved pets die. They are suc a huge part of our lives. I am sad but am focusing on the adorable and funny things he did. Until 18 mo ago when he must have developed arthritis, he would jump in bed with me at bedtime so we could snuggle. During the night, when I woke up, he was often next to my head, or down at my feet. Sometimes he would wake me up my kissing me--his whiskers woke me up.

funny feeling ,my son is coming up to his last year of high school,and has these co-op courses where for his last 2 periods in semester 2 he gets to go to a participating local business and practice what he would like to do in life(wish they had those when i was in high school) seems my offspring has enjoyed home -ec or the modern variant of it and wishes to become a baker and and next spring gets to practice and learn the trade in a real bakery while still doing his last year of school..make a daddy happy his boy is heading in a good direction:)))

Are you still here hoot? The adventure: the neighbourhood cat came into my house (I don't know how) and we had a nice time (I love him -- a beautiful and very friendly golden Burmese) when suddenly and for no reason he lashed out at my leg and made a couple of gouges in it which bled all over the place. It's a long story, but I managed to get to the phone to his owner, who came over and bandaged it and got me to the hospital for appropriate attention. I'll live, and so will the cat, who had no idea he had done a bad thing.
