oh...well..last year I basically got tuition $ in a gov't loan...that it...so...7k all my other expenses i had to shoulder...this year am getting more than dble that in loan..but am also getting dble that in grant ( ie...I dont have to pay back)...AND i got word today / yesterday...that I have been approved for an appeal ( to get yet more $) for travel expenses as i live 100 km (60 mi) from school and there is no public transportation that would get me to school on a daily basis.

It's a shame about health care in the US. We actually have very good "quality" health care. And some of the best medical schools in the world. Which is why so many people come here from other countries to go to medical school. It's the way the insurance companies have been allowed to screw up health care that is the problem.

good morning everyone.a interesting tidbit of my own today for those of you who have more than one cat in the house and have introduced a new cat and are going crazy with dominance/alpha cat/fighting issues.you take the worst offender or the new cat if it is trying to overthrow the current alpha kitty and put a harness on him or her with a short thin leash.instantly the cat goes from holy terror to a dangle toy for the other cats and becomes totally submissive and easier to intergrate with the other cats.leave it on for an hour or so at a time.works amazing (imho)

go to costco, get a package of creme brulee in chocolate cups (come either 4 or 6 to a package) -- thaw in fridge and just before serving pour a tablespoon of cointreau or grand marnier on top and put a match to it

I think the chocolate cups is a really nice embellishment for them as well, though. Sort of tricky because I would usually bake them in a bain-marie...but chocolate wouldn't stand up to that.

Ingredients
3 egg yolks1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream1 tablespoon brown sugar2 tablespoons white sugar
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Move a rack to the bottom of the oven.
2.Whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla together in a stainless steel bowl until smooth. Bring the cream just to a simmer in a saucepan over medium-low heat; pour into the egg yolk mixture, whisking continually until combined.
3.Bring a couple of inches of water to a simmer in an oven-safe saucepan over medium low heat; set the bowl with the cream mixture over the saucepan to form a double boiler.
4.Place the entire double boiler into the preheated oven; bake until the mixture sets, about 30 minutes.
5.Chill in refrigerator 2 hours.
6.Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
7.Combine the brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of white sugar in a bowl; sprinkle evenly over the cold creme.
8.Heat under the preheated broiler until the sugar melts and browns, 2 to 3 minutes; return immediately to the refrigerator and chill until the sugar is set, about 15 minutes.

oh! RED -- just to be sure I told my son the right thing. I said that the single-most effective disease prevention weapon was washing one's hands thoroughly. jes, I did a "dummy" thing -- Lucky licked himself raw, and you know shepherds, he got himself infected on his hindquarters. So the vet shaved him, and gave me oral and topical antibiotics. But I completely got turned around and was giving the ceflex only twice a day the first three days. Realized this morning I was completely off schedule and now giving thrice-daily dosing. *shakes head sadly*
