ok pug, there are 4 things on a computer called memory, + virtual memory. Cache, ram, hard drive space, and video memory. you can think of a computer as being simmilar to a man in an office. the man is the processor, his personal memory is the cashe memory, his desktop is the ram memory, the most immediate memory, used for what he wants right at hand, what he is working on now. The fileing cabinet is the hard drive space. The cashe is the smallest and most immediate mem, the guy's mem, the ram is next size up and fairly fast, the desktop, only need to glance at it to find what you need, the hard drive is the biggest and slowest, the fileing cabinet, you have to get up, walk acroos the room, get the file you want, return, clear some desk space and open the file to get what in in the fileing cabinet, very big but very slow.

Windows makes up somthing called virtual memory, it takes some of the unused space in the fileing cabinet (hard drive) and sets it asside to be used for virtual memory. When the desktop (ram) gets full windows starts stashing things in the virtual memory (hard drive space pretending to be ram).

running out means your hard drive may be filling up so thire is little space for virtual memory. If you go to windows help it will talk you through how to increase VM. eg if it is now at 10% of your free space, try upping it to 20 or 25%

i just use wetransfer.com to send myself stuff from one computer to another especially if the netbook i am using has no port for sd card or any usb port for flash keys.we transfer,com will let me send up to 2 gig free at any time to anyone i wish.in the old days we used to use icq for this because most e--mail services have and still have a small attachment cap
