Total hip replacement. I had what is called the antero-lateral approach, in which no muscles or tendons are cut, resulting in a faster recuperation with fewer restrictions.

no pain at church, or later. deacon is playing for the junior league. they don't keep score (supposedly ), they just run around and kick the ball when they can. the ball they use is oval in shape, and can bounce any which way. the senior players can predict the way it will bounce, but the littlies can't. it quite funny to watch.
