it seems it isn't a fast growing cancer, most of the time. They think they got the whole tumor out. Next is a scan of the lungs to see if it has... what's the word... started elsewhere as well. If not, she will be monitored very closely to see if it comes back. It often comes back, often in the same place. Might not be slow growing then, though.

There are many variables in addition to the medication. To say there is no conclusive proof is simply wrong

There are plenty of drugs that come with that cute bright orange warning sticker attached, telling you not to drink when taking them. However, the sticker can fall off, or not get attached in the first place, or you might just really need that cocktail and figure it'll be OK "just this once." But alcohol, combined with a long list of painkillers, sedatives, and other medications, becomes a deadly poison in these situations. In fact, many experts now say you shouldn't drink when on any medication without first checking with your doctor.

of course, a case like that is very rare, but drug interactions are guidelines because sometimes sh** happens.

Ok, I shall re-write my earlier comment. There is no conclusive proof that alcohol taken alongside medicated drugs when taken at the doseage prescribed causes dangerous side effects. Obviously any medication taken to an extreme dosage will have effects, especially when taken with excess alcohol. I'm only going on what has been recently published in the Lancet journal. Hope I haven't offended or upset or confused anyone. As I said, too, I wouldn't advocate anybody taking alcohol and drugs at the same time

yeah, our own responses to drugs and alcohol are all different. our absorption rate, and excretion rates are all different.

1 a.m. here and freezing too! my upstairs neighbour must be a polar bear... they have had the heat off for a week, i have put the stove on for warmth... frustartion building at idiocy of some people....
