For all of us. He was hospitalized for the second time in a month. At last tho, my ex and my daughter are on the smae page with me. I had wanted to start this process a year ago and they fought it all the way up until he stayed a few months with each of them (we all live within a mile and a half of each other). They had the big "Welcome to my world" moment.

yes, indeed. It is not cheap. Rent is a few hundred over his SSI benefit. The ex and I are splitting that balance. Hopefully, our son will eventually work part-time and be able to cover his expenses one day. This is a while off however. I'm grateful to have the means to help him.

There are two different types. I am collecting early retirement but that is different from Social Security Disability insurance....they are completely separate things. I was denied the disability...can't be denied the retirement, which I couldn't collect back then because I wasn't 62 yet.

The will always consider disability as a temporary thing untill you are broken beyond all repair and take great delight in threatening to cut you off and you have to do the mad apaerwork dance every month
