Have faith...I've been free of addiction for 8 years. I highly recommended SMART Recovery as either a replacement for or adjunct to AA/NA. It gives you behavioral "tools" that I find more help than being told you have "no control" and must leave it to God.

They are but you'd need to go online to find them. They're not as available as AA yet but are, I believe, also available for online attendance. When I used drugs in my teens and up untill age 30 or so, i found that I have to totally change my envoronmental location. it was not good for me to be coming back to the same place, the same faces, the same streets and the same availability that got me into that problem in the first place. Saying that though, I am sure everyone is different. I could not win with it in my face every day.

I think profit has taken over. The frames are vastly more expensive than they used to be and varifocals are much dearer than plain old bifocals. He did try to tell me that after 5 years with prisms behind each lens that they were now incorporated in the varifocals. I will wait to 'see' if they now reappear.

I agree -- it's hard to work with mean people, but (at least at my age, not sure about young-uns like you) not having insurance is rougher. I am fortunate to be covered through Tom's insurance, since if I am not rehired somewhere soon mine will lapse.
