I gotta say 2014 was a rough year and 2015 is looking up. My new hip is doing great, and, more importantly, my son is in a new group home and has started taking more control of his own life. He has challenges, and he is also a young man like most young men, needing to grow up and learn how to bounce back from missteps. He has a tireless case manager, which helps, and the group home staff are caring, attentive, and hold him to expectations.

It is. Of course, the arch on the opposite foot decided to fall! I'm keeping it taped, and being patient. Can ride a bicycle, thank goodness.

After many tries, Kineseo tape is my best solution. I actually copperated with the foot ortho and got orthotics. Hated them. K-tape works great because it's stretchy strips that you can fashion to meet your needs. I make sort of a stirrup with three strips crossing under my arch. I get supprt with range of motion and no cutting off of circulation. The tape holds for a good 5-7 days. I can't remove it earlier than that, unless I want to remove epidermis in the rocess!

Sounds very similar to the sock and the brace I bought. Sometimes I use an ace bandage, but it is more cumbersome than your tape. Sounds like how the athletic trainers tape ... glad it is helping you!

pretty much like athletic trainers, yes. The little indignities of age are creeping up on me. My goal is to maintain and preserve mobility. I joke that I have this little bargain with the Almighty that I hope can be agreed to: three things as I age I want_to be able to walk, keep my own teeht, and breathe through my nose! That's all. Dementia, illness_who am I to escape those ravages, so I'll just wish for something reasonable (;

Highlight of the trip was seeing Nutcracker, and meeting the principal bassist of the NYCB orchestra, thanks to a retired bassist of the Cleveland orchestra who is a friend, and whose dad played 900 Nutcrackers with NYCB (I clocked in 524 with Cleveland Ballet). I got a tour of the backstage of the New York State Theater, including the pit, and the bassists break room. It put a cap on my career. Very sentimental.

VMD is right. Knee pain is horrible. The miracle of my hip surgery is total pain relief plus great functionality. Only limitation is no jumping/high impact stuff, and no exaggerated range of motion. Just to go to sleep without pain, and wake up with out pain is a blessing.
