Good morning Marianne - you're moving uo, and I'm dropping down, in the rankings.
RunningForHome - did you get SATEEN, in time to enter it?
hehe 1 of the 's' words is a term that is used on soap opera children!!!
Hey Tol, Hoe'd ya do on the last puzzle? Me, not so well. My mom's Mac was having AOL/Internet problems. But I did get all three Z's.
Mello, goodmorning. I fell asleep after I ate<?> until just as the game was ending. hadn't anything to add, so that was okay. This looks like a good grid, and the board is accepting the words very quickly, which is good.
And, finally, there's a bird.
got like 20 words..bad day in babble land on a good note..r made a mess in the hallway on his hair on his face on his hands. you get the picture
Can I guess that the material he used to make the mess with, he found in his diaper?
ding ding ding we have a winner....so far this puzzle is a doozie..got 66/634 me likes!!!
highest so far is 6 for 36
woot 71 words
how was the drive?
I really hate the fact that this dictionary does not take afro. Its such a great word...
Yah afro was in the last one too, what a piss off.
however it does take something similar to that word...hint hint
Oh I know.
i'd love to know how many words are in this puzzle. someone wake up the bulldog or lawyer-1
nix the extra 'the' in that sentence
if i see beonce or tonic one more time
woo hoo sara's back! my cat just flailed underneath the desk...hmm
so, how many words does everyone have, and damn, I did horrible on the other puzzle. I did get three z's though. What was the cop word?
Ya, I'm totally clueless on that afro clue...
Ooo, it accepts the Brit version of one's bum...
A what? Afro. But more than one of them.
69/689. if i see stent one more time...
same re: fro clue, but the fr has racked up a few words.
ooh! cool, hadn't seen the bum - thanks.
Ignore my useless afro message, it really isn't a hint, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
So far, I have only 52 words.
The police word was ENFORCE.
I don't watch the soaps, so I don't know what they do to their kids??
No problem on the bum clue...and oh good, 'cause I had no idea what you were trying to convey on the so-called afro clue...
the cop word was ENFORCE
well it's kinda like afro but no 'a' and a different letter on the end...sigh work with me..i'm tired here
they enforce the laws
89 words 872
I'll take Austin Powers villians for 10 Alex.
No don't go yet!! lol....fraw...is not a word...lol...
you're getting close...lol
had to go ask DH about the Austin Power's thing...then come back cuz he said I don't know..sigh MEN
spell it differently ;)
my similar to afro word is a cleaving tool...
HAHAHAHA BABBLOR! austin powers *chuckles* thanks christine and pat! why was I too blind to see that one. oh well
ok now really
Come on, the Austin Powers one shouldn't be too hard. "From the moment I hear **** say I had a clone, I knew that I'd be safe 'cause I'd never be alone"
night night Tol
how many letters is the cleaving tool?
OK, I got a word within the afro area, meaning o fly very gracefully...but I'm thinking that's not the word Tol was refering to...
I lead SUCH a sheltered ife - I didn't see the Austin Powers films, so I'll just noodle letters, maybe find it, but how will I recognize it? I'll check with you, after the game closes.
And what the hell does cleaving mean?
i think it might be a plural of the cleaver word
Alright, to split.
Ya saw that one eh? I figured if the Enable dic accepted the poo-poo word, it would accept ninies one too...
47 for 319. I'm outtie.
sometimes this thing accepts words i know, and at 1st i think i don't because i'm pronouncing them funny in my head - anyone else do that?
105 words/1006 ...going to bed
98/940. have slowed down, will sleep i think.
*made it to 101. whew. haven't done that for a bit.
I have a 7/48 and it has to do with bottom of sea.
One of the 7s is elected.
Got one of them - thanks.
A clue for the c 7 could be
The ultimate end and result of an undertaking; a chief end
A clue for the a 7
To agree to remain as a tenant of property after the transfer of its ownership
A clue for the t 7
A radioactive isotope of radon, Rn 220, having a half-life of 54.5 seconds and produced by the disintegration of thorium
lol is that helping anyone?
The C clue helped me. Thank you.
There is a rather funny a word for 6 that is almost the same as a 5 letter H word for 16 if you trot along to have a look
Her name is a flower and im taking it to her for 6 for 18
I didn't say that, thats what I put in my wordfinder lol
Hey, that flower one is a good clue!
did you get my trot along one
I already had it, but it was a great clue. It takes some imagination to make those up - something in which I am sorely lacking.
Have you got the 8 for 40?
I do - thanks. Had a good clue for it?
Mellowmasher - thanks for the radon clud... I know nothing about such things - I told you, I've led a sheltered life.
The C I recognized after noodling it; the A I'd mer, pre-retirement. I already have the 'trot' word, and the 'elected' word.
Now - a flower? bottom of the ocean??
proofread, THEN press 'enter'...
My post should've read CLUE, not clud; and MET, not mer... ah me.
Hi Christine the 7 bottom of the sea clue is
The collection of organisms living on or in sea or lake bottoms.
The bottom of a sea or lake.
The flower clue is for 6
and yep I did have a good clue for the 8 but another day lol
there is a 6 letter b word worth 24 which you may do if you fancy a horse at the races
200 for 2339 as follows:
Would anybody help me out if they can working out what letters I'm missing for the last 4 - I'm absolutely stumped!
There is a 6 word for 27 clue is
Having or characterized by a husky, grating voice:
add one letter will give you the h 7 for 40
Kirsty1 - You appear to be missing an S word. Can't help beyond that.
Hi Kirsty I have one more s than you
Right S's it is! Thanks jlm_mi Those R's look suspiciously low too...
Mellowmasher, I already had the husky voice, Thanks for the hint. I added a letter to the end to make my first 7 letter word of the day.
Great H clue! But every time someone posts total, I get further behind. My niece is going to pay for sending this game to me!
I leave you alone for a couple of hours.... there were 169 words, when I left, now there's 204??? I have only 135 (I think), but I tell myself I won't stay around all day
Mellow -- ever notice how you'll see an unfamiliar word, one day, then come across it at a later date? I saw the ocean word, but with 'ic' instead of 'os' at the end... does that make sense? I googled your clue, and saw the word, then clicked on the little '?' after I posted the word... and there it was.
At 6:20am ConXshun said:
0 x 48
2 x 40
1 x 36
2 x 28
in the middle of a discussion of point values for 7-letter words. So, is there a 7 for 36? I thought there were 6 7s for 28, 48, 48, 40, 28, 40. Is there a 7th 7?
There is a 7 for 36.
Sorry - that was a 6 I was looking at.
I also have the 6/36 and wondered if maybe that waas what ConXshun meant.
Wish I could help. I'm still wondering how I'm going to get the ten, never having seen Austin Powers.
It's 10 points, not 10 letters. And the Austin Powers clue is not a particularly good one, as that is not how the character's name is spelled. ;) It's a 4-letter word for 10 points, starting with F. Not too many combos can make that.
Boy, do I feel dumb! I was looking for a ten-letter word. You just saved my sanity. I guess that's what comes of reading only some of the clues.
Nah, sometimes the clues can be confusing. :)
I have 2 4-letter words beginning with E. Can anyone tell me how many letters the E word I'm missing has?
egads, i return happy about 1-7 and 117 words, only to find there are tons of words eluding me!!!
I wish I could find the "will" 8 *sigh*
That one is driving me scatty too...
Think of the person, rather than the will itself.
And it does not have an N in it, if you're trying to go that way. I was stuck on that for a while.
I think Ive tried every combination starting with test that there is. Its still hiding from me!
ohhh I've been thinking that all day but couldn't see how to fit it in. But entered it anyway and now I've got to trace it out in the grid LOL
Perhaps you are using the wrong second T? Use the lower one.
ick why couldn't I see that hours ago :S
yes - I was using the wrong second T *sigh*
A million thanks jmi!
It appeared like magic when you said which T.
Isn't it amazing how realising which T to use suddenly makes all the difference?
Yes, that and the N (I was thinking an -ant ending) kept me banging my head on the desk for a while!
I am still confused about the "will" word. From the top which T does it start with?
THE VERY TOP ONE
granadan, Thanks, I will keep trying.
I give up on the "will" word.
But the next t to use is the third one down....
cos youll ned the second one down a letter or two further on...
Sounds like - the person in the stands at a sporting event.
and ends in R :)
Well I finally got it. tx for ALL the clues
OK, I'm amazed that there are so many T words! I only have 30 words to go, and at least 8 of them begin with T. Here's my breakdown by word length. If anyone else is willing to do the same and compare, I'd love the help!
Ugh, I will never find this stupid 8-letter word.
Ooh, found it... I was going in the wrong direction.
jlm_mi, we've got nearly the same number of Ts. I have
I'm completely stuck on finding the 7. Or any additional Ts, apparently.
Just got another 5.
The 7 is the plural of the 6 that I have and you probably don't. It is for 40 points and is the isotope one clued to before. There is also a 5 for 16 that removes the last letter of the 6. It begins with the name of a Norse god.
I just found another T 5 for a total of 16 of them for me, so maybe that's also the 5 you're missing compared to mine. I'll have to look for at least one more T4 to match your count.
Oh! Maybe I should read for hints before giving up, huh? Thanks. I've got the seven and the six now. And the nearly Norse god. If I could figure out which 4s you have I'd happily give you a hint in return.
I'm up to 21x4 now, but of course they may not all be the same as yours. Too difficult to figure that out probably. But how many th words do you have? I have 9.
I also have 9 th words.
I have 4 words that start with Ta. Do you have more than that?
Nope, only 3 of those. I could break it down for all of them, and really get the hints rolling. ;)
I found this great game which I though you Babblers might be interested in... but be warned, it doesn't accept a lot of words Babble does.
Found a 4th TA word. MSN Encarta says I should be able to add an S to pluralize, but babble won't let me. >:-|
Got the T will word. It was work, but it was worth it. Seeing the clue about using the second really helped. Thanks.
Mul you get the pics I sent for your Mom?
No, I haven't checked my email this afternoon. Her computer is very picky. I try not to 'stress it out' by asking it to do too many things at once.
Thanks for all the clues on the will word. I finally got it.
I am 18.5 weeks pregnant and just found out this afternoon that it's a girl!!
I'm having trouble concentrating on the puzzle.
Finally got the isotope word by trial and error. Never got the will word though. Tried every combo I could think of.
periwinkle ~ read the hints from 1:29 - 2:08 pm. I don't know any legaleze at all and I figured it out from that series of hints.
Gah! Every time I open the puzzle I see 'bestow'!
OMG, I actually found the WILL word!I reread all the clues, thanks Minski. And thanks to everyone for the clues.
OMG! I am so slow! It never crossed my mind to google the hints for a word. I am learning so much from you briliant scientists.
I finally topped 100/1000
I'm still missing the T for 40 that has something to do with a radioactive isotope. Is there any nonscientific hint or help for this word? I'm hopeless at science.
Also the 7 letter S for 28 is missing. Hints please?
MINSKI - Mazel Tov, and God bless.
the radioactive isotope rhymes with a word for slow (mentally)
Minski - My 3:27 clue is regarding the 7 for 40.
Minski, a clue fpr the T40 -- start with the top T, drop down, lean right, slope down to the left; then side-step left, up a shade, lean upwards and to the right, then drop down, further right.
Around 10:45am, Mellowmasher posted some great clues (google the information, to get the answer, if like me you know nothing about some of these subjects).
Got it by reading scientific nonsense on Google that I didn't really understand until I found a likely t word.
Now I'm at 110/1274
Thanks for the help.
BTW ~ Thanks Christine!
Pff, hentai not a valid word...
I feel so slow today. I just found the elected official. If it had teeth it would have bitten me on the a**
If you make that a*** you'll find it inthis grid, along with another word in that sentence. :-D
HE HE....Thanks jlm. I had them both.
Congrats on the baby girl. I'm due with my 4th girl in about 3.5 wks ;-D
Wish I wouldn't have started this puzzle -- legs are retaining H2O badly and DH says times up ;(
Thank y'all for all the help tonight. It's 11pm and time for Minski and PeeWee to turn into pumpkins. Final result for the evening.......
One of my best scores.
Hahah. I thought I knew the word from the clues, but I couldn't find it in the puzzle. So I decided, what the hell and typed it in, and it took it!
Anyone know why it wouldn't take "stent"?
sSent is one of those words that alwasy comes up in puzzles but it never takes it. Nobody knows why.
There are a bunch of words this puzzle won't take that have meanings in the dictionary.
oops...sorry about my typo. First word should be stent.
