55/637 still not as many as Lawyer 1 lol
2:37 am

there is a 5 and a 6 that are slang words for baby diapers.
2:38 am

there are at least 65 words
2:39 am
bulldog

two sevens

the harder one means a block of wood by which an awning is held up.
2:40 am
bulldog

a six for 27 that is a family of lions
2:41 am
bulldog

the greek goddess of the rainbow in plural form is worth 21
2:43 am

the seven I mentioned is worth 48 and it has a 6 inside it with the same definition that is worth 33. both are extremely uncommon words

the other 7 for 32 is a word that means those things which can make something less disorganized
2:48 am
Christine

Only 46 words, with nothing over 6, so far - however, I must disagree with bulldog as I feel the score is important, but I enjoy the getting-there... too easy a grid, and it'd be over too soon.
That said, I reserve the right to complain, if the urge hits me.
So, there's how many 7s??
2:48 am
bulldog

there is a 5 for 22 that is the plural of a famous trumpet player who's first name is bobby.
2:49 am
bulldog

I've got 2 sevens
2:51 am
bulldog

the 7 for 32 could also be a synonym for janitor or custodian.
2:53 am
bulldog

A grid with 4000 points is not any more easy than one with 600, the difference is to be found in the satisfaction of finding the words.
2:54 am

by the way I just got doom3 and it scares the tar out of me and I can only play it for a few minutes at a time. I have to intersperse it with Babble to calm my nerves.

there is a 6 for 24 that I had to go to kinkos to make earlier today.
3:00 am
Kukana

Hi there, sorry not to chat. It's late morning here (11am!)
3:00 am
Christine

Bulldog - I think you said what I mean - a grid with few, hidden words is as much fun (or as frustrating), as a grid with more words, that are easier to find -- I just want to spend about two hours, or so, through the day, trying to find whatever's in the grid.
I'm never going to get the 4000 words, but I'll enjoy myself.
3:02 am
Kukana

Actually I prefer the tricker ones where there's under 100 altogether, there's much more chance of me finding them. When there are 300 or more words, I forget what I've typed, and seem to miss loads, even if I spend hours at it! With one like today there are fewer possible combinations.
3:03 am
Kukana

What is kinkos???
3:04 am
bulldog

4000 words would be quite a feat. it is 1:02a.m. in las vegas. two hours is a goodly amount of time. I have spent as much as 6 hours on a puzzle during vacation just to keep my brain working. I take long (3 month) vacations every year and too long with no brain stimulation will make you lose sharpness.
3:05 am
bulldog

kinkos is a place to photocopy
3:05 am
Christine

Kukana - where is 'here'? With your time difference, I figure you're not in UK or western Europe, so??
3:06 am
bulldog

I have scored over 4000 points five times now this summer and I like those games a whole lot more that the ones that I score 1000 on.
3:07 am
bulldog

I'm not gonna break one K this time
3:08 am

christine what time is it in uk?
3:08 am

I'm in Cyprus :-)
3:09 am

kukana said "loads" that means that they are british.
3:10 am
bulldog

'cause 'Arry potter says "loads" loads ov' tymes.
3:10 am
Kukana

Yes, I'm British, just not living there. We're two hours ahead of the UK so it must be just after ten past nine in the morning there.
3:11 am
bulldog

All americans assume that all british people speak just like 'Arry potter and that any one who speaks like 'Arry potter is British.
3:11 am
bulldog

Americans rule.
3:12 am
Christine

Hey, if I could get 4000 points in two hours---
I try to spend not too much time here, I delude myself that I have a life away from the grid, but since I'm pretty much bedridden, I read, books, babble, google, read blogs... well, all the important stuff.
Pre-computer, I acted so superior when I heard of people spending time on these things - rather like the fellow employees who followed the plots (?) of 'their' soap operas.... poor souls.
3:12 am
bulldog

I hate GW
3:14 am

Does health rid you to bed? I hope that whatever is the condition you suffer from that it is short lived.
3:14 am

Soaps operas are bad news.
3:15 am
Christine

I'm in California It's 1:14am here, which makes it 9:14am in UK
3:16 am

4 words w/ Z... I'm missing one
I have 14, 13, 13
Any clues?
3:19 am
bulldog

YOU were # 1 the whole time you were absent.
3:20 am
Christine

Oh,Cyprus - I have friends who lived in Nicosia and Fammagusta Beach, when they were in the British Army, back in our young and silly days.... supposed to be one of the most beautiful places (after London, of course).
I'm rid to my bed because of scoliosis and a displaced hip... an operation will replace the hip, and I can live (and walk) with the spinal problem.
3:20 am
bulldog

lowsy grids though
3:22 am
bulldog

Wow christine I guess you really aren't my niece and Ryan's sister. Best of luck to you.
3:22 am
Christine

My sisters live in London and Wellington, NZ, so pre-emails, we needed to remember the time differences so that we wouldn't scare the pants off each other, calling to chat in the middle of the night.
3:23 am
lawyer-1

Christine, fyi, I was away from here due to an operation. I now face the prospect of 3-6 weeks' recuperation, during which time I shall, no doubt, go completely insane!
3:25 am
Christine

Where is 'little' Ryan - is he truly 14years old, or is that another of your noms-d-babble??
3:27 am
bulldog

he is 14 and has a short attention span. I jsust found a picture of me. I'm the guy playing saxophone in the lower right. http://www.sou.edu/music/JAZZBAND.HTM
3:28 am
bulldog

I made ryan cry twice this summer and I enjoyed every minute. I feel it is my duty to make sure that he does not turn into a wimp.
3:30 am
bulldog

Ryan is a very much real person and lives a thousand miles away from me.
3:32 am
bulldog

I am not using any other names on babble, honestly I forgot their logins.
3:33 am
Christine

You play sax? - if you were Italian, and a fireman, you'd be my ideal man.... sigh
3:35 am
mellowmasher

I have 65 and see bulldog has 68 is that all there is here?? anyone know
3:40 am
bulldog

norwegian, German, scottish, french and Irish. Five generations in the States on my mommas side, I'm a music teacher(high school Band) and I am recently married. July 17th. thank you very much.
3:57 am
bulldog

one of the z words has the following definition: A pasta shaped like grains of rice, frequently used in soups.
4:37 am
Christine

So, Bulldog - did you KNOW the slat word, or get it from noodling random letters? and another word from the alternate spelling.
I'm going batty trying to make IRIS from this grid - and plural??
4:44 am
Christine

Oh, I gotta 'fess up - I googled the slat clue, to get the words.
But I'll remember it next time, I hope.
Googled IRIS and EOS - those gals each have a slew of names, none of which I can use.
So far, 52 for 673 with only 6-6s and 2-7s
4:49 am
Kukana

64 for 810 - I have two 7s as well, and seven 6s. Anyone know what the total number should be?
4:57 am
Kukana

Eight 6s now: three for 21, three for 24, one for 27, and the obscure one for 33 (which I also googled to find)
4:57 am
mellowmasher

Hi kukana I dont know how many there are but I have 68 same as bulldog posted
4:59 am
Kukana

I think it ought to take userID as a word! It's pretty common these days... LOL!
5:08 am
Christine

I've decided to tell myself four hours (or more) on the Babble board is NOT a waste of time, 'cos I'm broadening my knowledge of uncommon words.
I have seven 6s - need one for 24 points - so I guess I'll reread the posted clues, perhaps it's that trumpeter??
5:14 am
Kukana

OK, I have 66, what am I missing?! Here's my breakdown of starting letters:

D - 10
E - 3
F - 7
H - 1
I - 5
O - 2
P - 7
R - 9
S - 10
T - 8
U - 3
Z - 1
5:17 am
Kukana

For the 6s for 24, one of them is something to do with morale, the other two are plurals of 5s for 14. I think one of them relates to the photocopying clue given earlier. I've no idea what the other one means and it isn't in the dictionary! It was just a nice combination of letters that worked.
5:23 am
mellowmasher

Hi I have 1 more s and 1 more o
5:23 am
Christine

The sixes - I have the one to do with morale, one for baby diapers, and one for photocopying.... of course, it would be the undefined word I'm missing.
5:27 am
Kukana

Is the baby diapers one defined in the dictionary when you click the ? I wonder if that's the word I don't know, it sounds as if it might be that kind of thing! It could be American slang I haven't come across (we call them 'nappies' anyway!)
5:29 am
Kukana

The Os I have already are both four letters for 13 - how long is the third one?
5:30 am
mellowmasher

4 letters worth 5 points
5:36 am
Kukana

Oh, thanks for that:-) Well it didn't leave many combinations given the position of the Os so I tried 'em and got it on the last one.
5:38 am
Kukana

Playing around with similar letters just gave me the last S too. So is 68 the final count??
5:40 am
mellowmasher

No probs not sure if theres anymore nobody has posted the stats yet have tried the last half hour and cant find anymore but that dont mean there arn't lol
5:41 am
Kukana

My stats are 68 words 4.66 850 - exactly the same as Bulldog posted earlier. So I'm guessing that might be all...

5:42 am
mellowmasher

Hey kukana comming to Cyprus in a few weeks whats the weather like
5:42 am
Christine

Kukana - the nappy word is a baby-word - like saying night-night or dadda..
Can't find that bloody O for 5pts. how many ways can you arrange 4 letters, for gosh sakes.
5:42 am
Kukana

Time for lunch here anyway!
5:45 am
lawyer-1

68 words 4.66 850

5:52 am
Christine

Will someone give a further hint about the trumpeter - 5/22 I think, but I can think of only Al Hirt (is he a trumpeter?).
5:58 am
mellowmasher

Hi Christine think of something you may wear on your feet then mis-spell it lol
6:04 am
Christine

Mellowmasher - I tried Jack Sheldon, but that didn't fit, and I think Al Hirt plays trumpet (?) so I finally googled, and found the answer, which I had already found as a word, not a name.
6:08 am
Kirsty1

I've got 68/4.66/850 so it looks fairly clear that's the lot from other posts with the same :o)
6:11 am
Christine

My stats are
D-10
E-3
F-6
H-1
I-3
O-3
P-6
R-6
S-6
T-8
U-3
Z-1
I have 27-4s, 20-5s, 7-6s, and 2-7s.
Will someone tell me what I'm missing.
6:12 am
Krista

tent isn't here, but another VERY common Babble word is...it took a break for a few days
6:16 am
Christine

Oh Lord, I'm the only one that's not getting all the words.... I'll make a cup of tea, and see if that helps.
6:28 am
Atalante

there's definately 1 F you're missing, but can't help more than that - yet :P
6:33 am
Kukana

Christine, my 68 words (which seems to be the same as the other 68s) break down to:

D- 10
E - 3
F - 7
H - 1
I - 5
O - 3
P - 7
R - 9
S - 11
T - 8
U - 3
Z - 1

I have two 7s, eight 6s, 23 5s (I think, it's not easy to count them!) and the rest 4s.
6:36 am
Kukana

Mellowmasher.. it's hot here! Not as hot as it sometimes is though, only about 32C in the shade. It'll probably stay this way (or hotter if we have a heatwave) until at least the end of August.
7:05 am
Christine

There's a word worth 21 points (I'd guess 6 letters with a total value of 8); I know it's there, but I just can't find it.
7:11 am
Christine

I really need that cuppa -- of course, I meant 6 letters for 7 points, having a total value of 21 points
7:41 am
Christine

Poured a lovely cup of tea - then realized I'd forgotten to put tea or a teabag in the pot... I think I should take a nap.
Also found I can't count - I have eight Ss, so I need only three there.
Will someone help out on the goddess clue - Iris is the goddess of the rainbow, but I can't figure a plural for the word, which doesn't exist in the grid.
7:45 am
Atalante

Don't work from iri*s*
7:49 am
Christine

Aha -- I noodled around in the upper left corner - and TAA DAA - I have a word that took, and guess the definition??
7:49 am
Atalante

Can someone give another clue for these diaper words :S I'm not sure I know of any baby-names for diapers, seeing as we don't even use the word diapers lol
7:56 am
Christine

We have, in California, a diaperservice called Tidy Di---s.
8:07 am
Atalante

Ah ha :) Thanks Christine ... with a bit of help from Google I've found them. You learn new words every day - I love that about this game!
8:16 am
Christine

Atalante, are you and I the only ones still searching?
After today, I think everyone will realize I lie when I say I spend no more than 2 hours (total) in this game... good thing I'm retired, and can nap during the day, to compensate for not sleeping at all during the night.
8:33 am
x marks the spot

i haven't played this game in a long time
8:38 am
Atalante

I think so!!! I've got 5 words to find and they are driving me mad!
8:59 am
periwinkle

I am having trouble with the Goddess word. I have tried every combo.:( Also, no 7's yet.
8:59 am
periwinkle

Good Morning , marigold.
9:00 am
Christine

Atalante - I need one each F and P; three Rs and two Ss; that's five 4s and two 5s..... aaargh.
What do you need? Perhaps I can help.
9:03 am
Christine

Periwinkle - that's one that occupied my poor brain, almost all night. The word starts with IRI, obviously, but then you have to zigzag in that section of the grid.
9:05 am
periwinkle

Thanks, Christine, I will keep trying. :)
9:07 am
periwinkle

Christine, I finally got it. Never would have thought that was the plural. Thanks again.
9:08 am
Atalante

I need a E, P, R and 2 S's but I don't know whether they are 4 or 5.

F I can help with. There's 4 FI (2x5, 2x4) and 3 FR (2x5 1x4). I can help more if I can work out which one you haven't got LOL

I'm missing 1 R .... but so far have got 4 RE (2x5 1x6 1x4) 3 RI (1x5 2x4) 1 RO (1x4).
9:35 am
Atalante

Got the last E - there's a 7, a 6 and a 4
9:42 am
Christine

Periwinkle - odd word, right? drop the last two letters, and you'll get a four letter word worth five points.
Atalante - it looks like I need a 4-letter word (FR) and two RE words (1-4 and 1-5) Thanks for your help.
This is what I have - perhaps it'll help you find your missing words --
E -- one each 4, 6. and 7.
P -- 3-4s, 2-5s, one 6.
R -- one each 4, 5, and 6.
S -- 5-4s and 4-5s.
9:49 am
Christine

Atalante - what Ss do you have?
10:01 am
jmbdobie

I need an E and a U and I am about to give up...

10:01 am
jmbdobie

and my stays are:

66 words 4.61 769
10:03 am
jmbdobie

er stats... that is.

from the messages I think they might both be 7 letter words...
any hints
10:13 am
Atalante

I've got the same sorts of Ss as you - 5-4s and 4-5s.

The RE words are singular and plural. The FR word is partly fused materials used in glass making!!
10:14 am
Atalante

Ignore me about the REs - too asleep to read what you wrote properly *sigh*
10:41 am
Christine

Jumdobie - the E and U words you're looking for - well, you won't believe them; I really can't believe many people have ever heard of them. I think the only way to find them is to read Bulldog's three clues at 2:43am... then google the bloody thing - I did.
10:46 am
Christine

Atalante - my Ss are
SE -- 4, 5.
SH -- 3, 5
SO -- 4.
SP -- 4, 5, 4.
SU -- 5
Somewhere in that grid, there are two more S-words
10:51 am
Christine

jmbdobie - the 7s begin with E and T...
11:15 am
jmbdobie

Thanks Christine...

I googled ... and found them.
Try using those words in a sentence!!!!!
11:15 am

Christine, one S you miss is SU

4:42 pm
fnurt

The french word is a well-known brand name.
5:08 pm
boatierra

Oh sure, it'll accept the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, but it won't take 'rosh.' Bummer.
5:22 pm
boatierra

OK, I have 6 T's. They are:

4 x 5
5 x 12
6 x 21
4 x 4
5 x 12
5 x 10

What am I missing?
5:22 pm
Christine

Are you sure about the third 7-letter word? I reread the earlier chat, and everyone seems to mention only two.
5:26 pm
boatierra

Christine - are you talking to me?
5:28 pm
fixitfmly

mulher -- there's another T 6/21, differing only in last letter. I'm missing the second 5/12 you have.

mulhermujer - you're missing a 6 and a 7, both are related to the 6 you have
5:32 pm

thanks for getting me to look at that T! ;-) Thought I'd already entered the 5/12 and now have all 8 T's.
Now those Ds and Ss . . .
5:35 pm
majenwen

I did the same for the 4-letter, I had the 5, but forgot to enter the 4 :)

majenwen

All the D's are fairly common, except for the 5/6 diaper combo
5:41 pm

5:41 pm
boatierra

fixitfmly and majenwen - Thanks you two. From your help, I got the last two T's I needed. So now I'm done with the H, the T's, the Z, the ID, and the OR.
5:42 pm
Christine

Mulher - Atalante mentioned another 7-letter word (RH), but I reread the earlier chat, and only two were mentioned.
I'd left, after deciding I really don't need to find the last three words, and came back to find this on my plate... oh well, another cuppa, and I'll be able to tackle it.
5:43 pm
majenwen

As I'm too lazy to read the rest of the log, I don't know if someone's already posted the total. Either way, it's sixty-eight words.
6:10 pm
Christine

Thanks, majenwen - after my last post, I reread Atalante's chat, and realized I had the RH for 7, and I've found the last missing piece.
Finally, after a mere 16 hours (on and off) I've finished this game.
6:16 pm
czdad

CZ, are you on line? I'm finished with this beast...
6:17 pm
Christine

Atalant (my partner in finding the elusive words) did you finish the game?
If there's someone still working the grid - poor souls who had to go to work, today - do you need one of us to post our final stats?
I'm soooo chuffed, that I finally got the whole thing, tee hee.
6:24 pm
Christine

Is czdad the proud papa of cz? Isn't this neat - a family game. Bulldog's wife and nephew' Mal is my sister (Marianne); and my other sister, Judith, also plays.
The family that addicts together....
6:29 pm
runningforhome

Christine - I'd love the final stats; I'm still ten words short.
6:34 pm
czdad

Yes, CZ (Carin Z) is my daughter, and mother of two cute daughters, as yet too young for(online) babbling; I think the time that she stayed home after the second was born was instrumental in her discovering the game.
She sent me the site address a few weeks ago, and the rest is history, as the cliche goes. BTW, we are both in the SF bay area.
6:35 pm
periwinkle

Think I am going to quit. Can't find the last 5 words. But I did much better than I thought I would. Thanks for all the hints. :)

Ooops (as they say) came back to post the stats, but they were already shown... good game, rigt?
Time to think about something to eat.
7:34 pm
Christine

Minski - you're lacking one MI - there are 2/4 each worth 4 points, one each 5 and 6, worth 14 and 24 points, respectively...
7:36 pm
Christine

I'm losing it. Minski. That last post should've read "missing DI words" - but you knew that, right?
7:39 pm
Daisy

I'm missing 3xS and 1xU and I think I'm stuck. :(
7:55 pm
majenwen

There are 2 common U words, the other U word is just one letter short of a 7 letter word
9:37 pm
fixitfmly

thanks to bulldog, majenwen & others for hints and a couple of a2zwordfinder searches, I've found 68 words!

DH will be so proud of me -- finished before he sends me to bed! lol!

While there is satifaction in knowing you've found all the words, I still like those grids where I keep finding more words and racking up lots of points! Guess I'll go play a mindless game of Zuma before I retire . . . ;-)
10:41 pm
boatierra

OK, I total I have 5 R words out of 9. My 5 consist of 2 RE's, 2 RI's, and one RO. Supposedly I have 3 RI's and 2 RE's. But, I have read thru most of the log, and I keep seeing that there is a RH in the puzzle? So that would mean there are 10 R's, not 9. Can anyone shed some light on this?
10:42 pm
boatierra

I meant to write, " Supposedly I have 3 RI's and 2 RE's to go."
10:51 pm
Christine

Mulhermujer - there are nine R-words...
