I keep seeing 'petunia' and 'pundit'! ;-)
8:50 am
fixitfmly

I wish I could a Caesar quote was appropriate . . . veni, vedi, vici . . .
With the babble grids it's more like I came, I saw, I spent too much time and still lost! ;-D
8:53 am
berekah

yup, I'm finally here. Not sure how well I'll do, though...good luck :-)
8:54 am
fixitfmly

the 7 for 52 is such an appropriate word ;-)
9:01 am
parsec

so is the 7/60
9:06 am
fit1

I got 7/36 and 7/48. Still looking for 7/52
9:11 am
Christine

Marianne, good morning... how're y'doing??
9:16 am
fixitfmly

fit1 --
the clue for the 7/52 is how many letters are in the word . . . haven't found parsec's 7/60 yet . . .
9:18 am
Christine

Does anyone, yet, have a list of potential words?
I have one 8 for 55; three 6s for 60, 36, 52.
So far, only 90 for 1147.
9:24 am
fixitfmly

Christine:
I don't have the 8 yet and still missing the 7/60 but these are my 6s so far:
30, 30, 27, 27, 27, 24, 24, 18, 30
so I don't have the ones you have . . .
86/1103
9:24 am
parsec

i have nine 6s, all worth less than Christine's...the 7/60 is 'appropriate' in that it's how I feel after staring but not seeing words.
9:27 am
parsec

fixit, there is a 24 between your last 27's
9:30 am
fit1

I found the seven for 60. YAHOO>
9:30 am
parsec

or, alternatively, there may be a 27 among your 24's--depends which of yours I'm missing.
9:32 am
Q

i'm going to suspect that where christine wrote the values for her 6's she meant they were values for her 7's...
9:35 am
King Henrik

I can't find any A words - its driving me mad cos i've got this OCD thing where i can't make any other words before i find an A word. I must be crazy. Are there any?

Q

there's a 6 for 48, but i don't know if it's before or after that 30, since i don't have the 30.
9:41 am
Christine

Ooops - I misspoke
I have one 8 for 55;
three 7s for 60, 36 and 52;
and six 6s for 30, 30, 27, 27, 24, and 27... so I'm looking for four more 6s?
9:51 am
Christine

Poor KING HENRIK, can't move on without getting all the As or just one?
I have only one, so far - the definition is "about, concerning, in respect"
10:16 am
jenleigh22801

Does anyone have any hints on these words worth many points?
10:21 am
Q

Point values and the alphabetic order they're in (when people are listing the point values of a set of words of a certain length, that's been typical in alphabetical order) are both very useful hints.

There are some other hints earlier in the conversation, such as the appropriateness of the 7 for 52.
10:24 am
Christine

Q - that 6/48 is not easy to find.... six letters for 16 points means you MUST use the X tile, a 4 and four ones, or??
Will you part with the first letter?
10:31 am
Q

Well, it could also use a 2 and a 3 plus the X and four 1's, but it doesn't.

10:56 am
jenleigh22801

I got the 6 for 48. I've never heard of that word before.
10:56 am
jennyb

Ooh, I got it, even before the hints - it was familiar to me because I recently had a baby... ;-)
11:00 am
eyezzz

I was going to say that jenleigh22801 must not be from ovuland ;)
11:05 am
jenleigh22801

Actually, I've read the ovusoft boards a little bit, but I don't read the pregnancy boards because I've never been pregnant. I chart with Ovusoft, and I usually go there if I have any questions. I can usually find the anwsers without even having to post a question, because someone would have already asked the same question I had. Th ovusoft boards are very informational.
11:11 am
Christine

Well, it's 40years since I had a baby, so that's not a clue, for me....
Puhleese tell me the start letter, hmm?
11:11 am
elara6

Karin has more than I do for most of the letters, but I thought I'd update her list with a few extra from mine:

Ax1
Dx15
Ex5
Fx4
Hx12
Ix8
Nx10
Ox3
Px11
Rx13
Sx22

Also, there are at least 2 8's for 55. :)

Hi all! I am not playing today so I thought I would be helpful, locate a solver, and give you the counts.

There are 159 words:

If I count right there are :

2 with 8 letters
7 with 7
22 with 6
54 with 5
74 with 4

Why isn't "perv" a legitmate word?? I use it all the time... :P
2:59 pm
jlm_mi

I've got 16x6:

30,30,27x5,24,27,24,24,24,18,30,48,27

and 5x7:

40,60,36,48,52

Anyone able to fill in any blanks?
3:04 pm
fnurt

I have one 8 for 55 (starts with I), but I am clueless on the other 8.
3:08 pm
jlm_mi

Sorry, I have both 8s as well. Both are 55 points. The other is a prefix on a 6-letter I word for 27 points.
3:11 pm
fnurt

Haha, that word was tricky to see.
3:16 pm
fnurt

jlm, I think you are missing a 27 starting with U.
3:20 pm

i have 14 6s, but they could all be the same as yours.. mostly 24s and 27s.
3:27 pm
jlm_mi

Thansk fnurt. Can't believe I missed that one!
3:31 pm
fixitfmly

JLM --
I'm missing 3 that you have but have a couple that you don't . . . here's my list:
30, 30, 6x27, 24, 27, 24 (here you have 3x), 27, 18, 30, 48, (here you have a 27)
still no 8s
3:34 pm
fixitfmly

oooh! I just got the R8 . . . kept wanting to make that word but going the wrong way about it. I only have 3 i's so far . . . so now to find that i8
Thanks for the hints!
3:39 pm
jlm_mi

My 3 24s in a row, one is a color (actually its plural) and the other two vary from each other only by the ending letter. For the 27 I have at the end of my list, think of a garden.
3:39 pm
fixitfmly

one of the 6/27s has to do with a Catholic prayer tradition
3:45 pm
jlm_mi

Thanks for the clue. I keep seeing one Catholic prayer word, but it doesn't actually fully exist in the puzzle. I'm not Catholic, so may not get this one . . .
3:48 pm
fixitfmly

JLM --
it has to do with praying for 9 days . . .
3:48 pm
jlm_mi

Duh to me! It was there all along, I was just looking along the top instead of down the middle. How do we get such set ideas in our minds that we can't even find something we're specifically looking for????
3:49 pm
jlm_mi

OK, so now I have 18 of the 22 6s:

when I started playing this game a month or so ago I used to struggle to reach 1/3 to 1/2 the points of the high scorers -- now I've learned some new words and I'm getting better at seeing patterns . . . but clearly not like lawyer, JLM or bulldog . . . I still haven't found those 3 missing 7s and the i8! ;-D
4:32 pm
fixitfmly

off to do something productive . . . hope to be back later to find those pesky missing words! ;-)

4:37 pm
periwinkle

Can't find the 8's. Help please :)
4:38 pm
jlm_mi

I also had a lot of trouble at the beginning! And with these puzzles with lots of words it's still pretty common that I miss anywhere from 20-50 words. It's just easier to find them all on the puzzles that only have 75 words. :)

Once those first couple weeks of low-scoring puzzles had gone past the last 30 days, that's when my ranking started to jump up. :)
4:39 pm
jlm_mi

They start with I and R. See 3:08 for a clue to the R word.
4:45 pm
faeanna

Can someone give me a clue or two for some 'i' words? I can't find any...
4:48 pm
sleeky

Many of them start with the same prefix.
4:50 pm
sleeky

But not necessarily from the same part of the grid.
4:51 pm
cz

I thought "viser" was a word....
4:52 pm
runningforhome

It is, but it's spelled 'visor'.
4:56 pm
cz

Ha! I've been spelling it wrong all these years....
5:00 pm
Dr_God

It appears the folks at "Digital Solutions" have taken it upon themselves to blatantly copy Babble. Let's all email them and let them know what we think of cheap imitators! :)

http://www.dsol.fsnet.co.uk/index.html
5:00 pm
jlm_mi

Yep, 6 of my 8 I words start with the same 2 letters, though as sleeky said, not the same starting locations in the grid.

For the other two I words that I have (still missing 1):

One is a word that is very commonly found in these puzzles. Think angry.

The other - think about a garden.
5:10 pm
jlm_mi

Found the last I word - also starts with the same 2 letters as most of the others.
5:45 pm

Hullo everyone...freezing my rear off in the midwest..thought I'd see if I could babble for about 10 minutes while the boy sleeps and the hubby unloads groceries. Hope everyone is doing well...

The clues for the 8's are not helping me. Any other hints, please?
5:47 pm

I set the alarm off at your house today, as expected. I think when I push the first digit, I'm not pushing it hard enought for it to register.
5:50 pm

Tolinya

Mul-eh it's all good did they call you? it's freakin' 61 outside..i'm wearing jeans 2 layers of socks and we had to go to goodwill to get the boy pants!!! AAHHHH!! It's August for goodness sake.

5:54 pm
parsec

periwinkle-- for the r-8: people try not to do this to wheels. I'm missing the i-8 myself.
5:57 pm
boatierra

I guess Neptune is considered a proper noun. Hey, better to be a bit on the chilly side than way hot. Its 106 F/ 41 C right now. Toasty.

Ya, they called. Its all good. Cats are well, and plants are watered. I put the green can out. I'll go back tomorrow to put it away. Got your mail too.
5:58 pm

The i8... well, it's just THERE in the puzzle. Part of it. Naturally. :-)
5:58 pm

I only have one 8 for 55.
6:20 pm

got the R-8-55
very clever hints people
the only thing I would add is to think of a cliched saying and not of the tires on your car.
6:21 pm
periwinkle

I have two 6 letter I words, each for 27. Are either of these words the one I use to build the R word?
6:24 pm

6:24 pm
Minski

yepper
if it's the correct one
6:29 pm

6:38 pm

so does anyone have the i/8/40? I could really use a clue.
7:21 pm

jlm_mi, if you come back to check your sixes, I just found a 30 pointer towards the end between your 6 for 18 and your 6 for 30.
7:23 pm

How many words are in this puzzle?
7:32 pm

There is not an 8/i/40 but there is an 8/i/55.

periwinkle - jmdobie gave complete stats earlier, both by letter and by word length

soho - thanks, I think I have that one. The end of my list is now 18,30,30,48,27. Is that what you have?
8:18 pm
jlm_mi

I think all the 7s and 8s are discussed in the early morning chatter for those who want to look back for hints (point values, etc.).

There are also several lists of 6 letter word points in alphabetical order back a bit.
8:25 pm
fixitfmly

sleeky --
excellent clue! twinkies are in bed and I'm trying to get a few of those lingering big words. thanks for the help! ;-)
8:46 pm
fixitfmly

lol! I kept seeing 'dervish' . . . and suddenly I saw the P7/60! Like parsec said earlier today -- such an appropriate word for looking at the puzzle and not seeing anything!
8:47 pm
jlm_mi

Yeah, I keep seeing dervish and "divise". So close to what it should be. :)
8:56 pm
fixitfmly

unhire/s -- the politically correct term for being fired ;-)
8:59 pm
jlm_mi

I so wanted that too, but alas, it was not the way for me to get my last U word. **sigh**
8:59 pm
Minski

are there any hints for the 8-I-55?
9:04 pm
fixitfmly

JLM --
found another N6 for 18 quite by accident -- it's some kind of 'clamworm'
9:06 pm
jlm_mi

minski - intrinsic

fixitfimly - thanks! I love "by accident" words and will try to find it now. :)
9:11 pm
jlm_mi

Ya know - there are supposed to be 7 7's. I've found 5, listed earlier I think (40,36,48,60,52). I don't think anyone has posted about the others, and I'm veeerrrry curious about what they are. Guess it can wait till I wake up though . . .

the parody I've only heard in a sort of negative way - like SNL does a s**** of _____ (I haven't seen SNL since 'the church lady' days and that would have a parody of the religious right)
it's a compound word of a 4+2
