ENTIRE CHAT LOG

12:13 am
Christine

Oh, goody.... this is the new grid I waited for? (grammar, grammar)
12:28 am
Christine

Two sevens, for 48....
12:29 am
runningforhome

I was all excited to enter 'chomp', since that is one of my favourite words, but it's not actually in the puzzle :(
12:41 am
boatierra

Two sevens? I can't find anything over a five.
12:43 am
Asfaloth

It won't accept eyepie!
12:45 am
iluvtigs

2 7's and 1 6
32 words
12:46 am
SummerBreeze44

one 8/75 & one 9/96
1:14 am
boatierra

22 words for 247, nothing over five letters. G'nite.
1:30 am
Atalante

utterly gave up on yesterday's grid lol - this one *has* to be better - well maybe ...
2:39 am
Mal

Christine, you are sooooo sad, fancy getting all excited over a new grid just printing it off and away to see Dad.
5:55 am
periwinkle

24 words for 369 good bye
6:41 am
Kukana

Has anyone found a use for the x? It looks so hopeful... and yesterday's was very useful!
7:30 am
granadan

Nope, getting nowhere with that x.
7:38 am
granadan

25 383
A 1
C 7
F 2
H 6
M 4
R 4
V 1
Cant find the 8 or 9, but have a 7 for 48 and two 6s for 24 and 33.
7:56 am
Kukana

Thanks, I didn't have the 6 for 24 but have it now after a guess or two at possibilities!

I now have 54 for 926, keep hoping to break 1000 but somehow doubt it's going to happen.

A - 5
C - 13
E - 6
F - 3
H - 9
M - 5
O - 5
R - 5
V - 1
Y - 1

That includes the 9, the 8, two 7s for 48, and four 6s for 42, 54, 24 and 33.

Oh, and I did eventually manage to use the x, just once so far!
7:57 am
Kukana

The 8 and 9 are compound words, closely related to each other :)
8:06 am
periwinkle

Kukana, May I have a definition for the 8/9 words or at least a starting letter, please? :)
8:14 am
periwinkle

how many words are in today's puzzle?
8:17 am
periwinkle

Hello out there. Is anyone else playing now?
8:19 am
lfaerie

Don't know how many words, but the 8/9 words start with O...
8:20 am
periwinkle

thanks. I will keep looking.
8:26 am
periwinkle

Found the 8/9. Thanks so much for the help.
9:20 am
Atalante

There's a 6 / 54 using the x :)
10:18 am
fit1

Atalante, is it a common word. Can you give a clue, or a first letter?
10:34 am
Kukana

It's a botanical word, not common at all. X is the second letter, that should narrow down the starting one a bit :-)
10:34 am
Atalante

Not its not common at all! It starts with E and I only got it cos it sounds as if it should be a word LOL
10:35 am
Kukana

posting at the same time!
10:37 am
Kukana

How can we find out how many words there are altogether? I've hunted around before for online boggle solvers, but they all seem to list the words rather than stats and there's no point in that!
10:40 am
fit1

geez louise. What a weird word. Thanks Atalente and Hujkana.
10:42 am
fit1

At least I made a typo in both your names so no one person is more insulted :)
10:42 am
Atalante

I don't know! But there's more than 54 lol. I've got 54 for 948 ....
10:51 am
Kukana

I'm still on 54 for 926 so you must have some longer (or at least higher scoring) words. Are your stats much different from mine (posted below, 07.56 am log-time, whatever that means! It's nearly 7pm here at present)
10:58 am
parsec

I have 6xR, so there are at least 55...
11:00 am
4t8

seeing as divorce is a word, i really would have liked to have used vorce. ah well.
11:02 am
4t8

is the v the bone, or is there another one out there?
11:02 am
Atalante

I've got exactly the same as you - except 1 more R and 1 less H. Same number of 6,7,8,9s and the same scores. But the extra R I've got is only for 7 so somewhere I've got 1 or 2 longer words. I'll do a breakdown of my 5s in a sec.
11:04 am
Atalante

OK. My 5s ...
C - 24,18,20,20,20
E - 18
F - 22
H - 22,20,26
M - 14,20
V - 20
11:05 am
Atalante

Ohh - there's 2Vs by the way
11:08 am
4t8

ooh! just got the 6 e for 54 looking for the 5. but i haven't studied trees before.
11:10 am
4t8

is yours a 4 for 7?
11:16 am
Atalante

OK - I've been dumb. Kukana - your list from earlier has only 53 words in (unless I really can't count!) So actually I've got the same amount of words of each letter as you in that list plus an extra R. And now plus another V.
11:16 am
Atalante

Vs - I've got a 4 for 7 and a 5 for 20
11:32 am
parsec

There is another H/5 for 26
11:36 am
Kukana

Ah, sorry for the confusion (just been away for a while). I re-counted and I do have six Rs, not 5. So I'm missing the V for 20, but that would only add up to 946 so there must be something else too.
11:38 am
Kukana

Ah!

I'm also missing an E-5. My six Es are two 6s and four 4s.
12:01 pm
Atalante

The E5 is for 18
And now I'm going to get utterly frustrated, I'm sure, trying to find your extra E4!
12:06 pm
parsec

Okay, I am getting confused with all the add-ons now. I have 57/4.67/995:

5xA
13xC
6xE (but I am missing a 4 here)
3xF
10xH
5xM
6xO
6xR
2xV
1xY

My five list is the same as Atalante's with the addition of an H and an O, i have 1x9, 1x8, 2x7, and 4x6. Given that I am missing an E, do those numbers match at all?
12:15 pm
runningforhome

There are 59 words total.
I only have 30... I hate this puzzle.
12:18 pm
Kukana

57 words 4.65 990

I'm missing the O-5, and have the extra E-4
12:24 pm
Kukana

Wooo, got the O-5, which brings me to 58 words, 1004 points.

If your missing E is a 9 (three of my four Es are for 9 points) than that would also come to 58 for 1004

So.... where on earth can the 59th be?! LOL!
12:24 pm
Kukana

Sorry, that should be three of my four E-4s
12:26 pm
Kukana

The e that I expect some of your are missing was actually a typo for one of the other e words which turned out to be a Chaucerian spelling for a more common word.
12:26 pm
parsec

it was a nine, so I am also at 1004. Maybe we have different e/4/9s? Mine are first, second, and sixth in my Es.
12:28 pm
Kukana

My E-9s are in the same places.
12:28 pm
Kukana

I mean E4s for 9 points, sorry, getting muddled here!
12:38 pm
Atalante

argh I just can't find the other words! Still on 55 *sigh*
12:39 pm
4t8

runningforhome, on the upside of things i've noticed that you sprint and get lots of words just before the grid closes. :)
i have to end with 41/833. study day!
12:43 pm
parsec

Hey, runningforhome--is that 59 from a solver using the same dictionary, or a different one?
1:00 pm
periwinkle

stuck at 34 :(
1:02 pm
periwinkle

only have 2 E words 4/ and 4/6. Any clues for the others would be appreciated. I can't find the word using the X.
1:08 pm
Kukana

One of the E-6 words is an extension of an E-4 for 9. I didn't think it would be a word but typed it anyway and it was accepted.

The other one is the x-word. Imagine a curvy bridge support, if you see what I mean, that exists no longer. Not that this is the meaning of the word, but it's what I thought when I typed it! LOL! The curvy bridge support is another 4-letterword in the grid for 9 points (but not starting with e)
1:10 pm
Karin

There an E word 6/54 using the x
1:37 pm
Atalante

Tackling the H word - I've got 6 4s and 3 5s. What am I missing????
1:53 pm
runningforhome

parsec - it says it supports multiple dictionaries, so there could theoretically be more or less words.
2:20 pm
Kukana

Atalante, I have four H-5s, for 22, 26, 20, 26 Hope that helps.

Giving up with 58, it's nearly 10.30pm here and I need to sleep!
2:23 pm
runningforhome

Atalante - I have four h-5s.
2:24 pm
runningforhome

I really need to start refreshing the log before posting.
2:34 pm
Atalante

*smacks head* that was so obvious - thanks guys :)
4:44 pm
cz

Starting late today....any clues for the 7's? I found the 8/9.
4:49 pm
fit1

I have no idea how many words there actually are. I know I'm missing some that were mentioned, but I'm at 52 and about to give up :(
4:54 pm
fit1

Hi cz. Start with 5's for 20 and add a prefix :)
4:55 pm
fit1

Oh, and both 5's start with 4's plus 1 letter
4:57 pm
Atalante

Giving up at 58 too
5:00 pm
youngster

Any clues for the 'y' word?
5:02 pm
cz

THanks fit1...I got them immediately after your hint.

Sometimes I can't believe what I miss.
5:08 pm
cz

The y-word...it's kind of gross

I'm stuck on the 6/24...what letter does it start with?
5:11 pm
youngster

I don't have a 6/24. The only 6 I have is 6/54. How many letters or points is the 'y' word?
5:13 pm
cz

Y--4/12
5:22 pm
youngster

Thanks cz. Took me long enough, but eventually got there.
5:30 pm
fit1

I have a 5/24, not a 6/24
5:30 pm
fit1

I hasve aa 6/42, 6/54 and 6/33
5:34 pm
youngster

I've got a 5/24, but don't have the 6/33 or 6/42. Any clues before I go to bed?
5:38 pm
fit1

take a 4 /9 meaning reverberate, and add a suffix for the 6/42. The 6/54 starts with a 4/9 you walk under, then add a prefix
5:41 pm
youngster

It's the 6/33 I don't have. Got the 6/54 a while back with the help of earlier clues.
5:42 pm
youngster

Got the 6/42 now thanks. Still not the 6/33
5:50 pm
fit1

start with a 4/9 meaning to change the place of something, and add a suffix. This will give you the 6/33
5:53 pm
fit1

oops, sorry. Add a PREfix
5:55 pm
youngster

realised that, after a struggle. Got it now thanks, but should have got it ages ago since I have the 7/48!
6:05 pm
youngster

Finishing now. It's midnight. Didn't get to bed till 3 last night/this morning. Night.
7:35 pm
periwinkle

I am confused. What does the 6/33 start with.
7:41 pm
periwinkle

Found the 6/54 while searching for the 6/33.
7:43 pm
periwinkle

never mind, I already have the 6/33.
7:48 pm
periwinkle

I don't have either V word. Any hints?
8:11 pm
cz

Hints for the V's:
V5 is a bone
V4 is the second word in the name of a plant known for its skin-healing properties

Can you help with a hint for the E5/18 or the second H5/26? I have the one that ends in Y.

8:12 pm
cz

Also, I am stuck on the third C5/20. I have 2 of them and I can't get the third!
8:27 pm
runningforhome

Can anyone help me with the o-5?
8:30 pm
runningforhome

Never mind, I got it.
8:31 pm
marigold

perwinkle.... you have mail
8:32 pm
fit1

the senond h/26. You wreak....when you cause a ruckus
8:32 pm
fit1

I am still struggling with the o/5 and the e/5. Any help
8:42 pm
runningforhome

Can't help you on the e5, but the o5 sounds a lot like a certain vegetable you often find in soups.
8:45 pm
fit1

Thanks running. I have tossing letters around in that corner forever. Finally got it :)
8:45 pm
marigold

Why doesn't it take comfy?
8:46 pm
fit1

still only have 54 for 942. I am a sorry dog :(
8:46 pm
fit1

Marigold. I think those letters go in order in this puzzle :)
8:47 pm
runningforhome

Soooo, who wants to give me a hint on the other 7-letter word? I have the one starting with R (hopefully they both don't start with R).
8:47 pm
fit1

oops Mari. That should read I DON'T think those letters go in order
8:48 pm
fit1

running, I hate to be the bearer of ill tidings, but there are 2 r/7's
8:49 pm
runningforhome

Well, as soon as I read that, fit1, I saw the other, so thank you. :)
8:50 pm
cz

Thanks I got the H5/26. Still hunting for the E5/18 and the last C5/20.

The O5/14 is a botanical term for "a sheath formed at the node of a stem by the fusion of two stipules, as in the rhubarb plant". I didn't know the word got it by noodling.
8:53 pm
fit1

The first 2 c/5 20 begin and end with the same 2 letters. Only the middle letter is different. The third means to have a desire for something
8:55 pm
fit1

my cup would runneth over if I could get the e/5. I would go to sleep a happy woman. Any clues at all?
8:58 pm
fit1

I GOT IT> I GOT IT
9:05 pm
cz

OK got the C5. I actually had the first one and the third one, missing the second one but your hints were great. :-)

Now, fit1, please share a clue for the E5. I'm going insane.
9:10 pm
fit1

oh boy. The e/5 is the guy who hosts a show
9:11 pm
Sparrow

cz- master of ceremoines is what I have for an e/5
9:13 pm
fit1

if there are only 59 words in this puzzle, I have 55 of them. I think that's pretty good...for me :)
9:16 pm
runningforhome

That's what I have too.
9:55 pm
Rabbit

Thanks for the clue Sparrow. :)
10:01 pm
runningforhome

How many Es and Os are there? I have six of each.
10:10 pm
busymom

there are 7 e's and 7 o's
e are 4/9, 4/9, 6/42, 5/18, 4/6, 4/9, 6/54

o's are 5/14, 4/6, 4/7, 8/75, 9/96, 7/60, 4/7
10:47 pm
jojo

This puzzle is pooping hard : (
11:16 pm
runningforhome

Thanks so much, busymom! I found the two I was missing. All I have left to find is one R-word...
11:24 pm
runningforhome

Found it! :D
11:27 pm
Rabbit

i am still short an r word, care to share
11:51 pm
busymom

rabbit - if you are still there the r words are 4/7, 7/48, 6/24, 6/33, 7/48, 4/7
11:54 pm

11:55 pm

11:55 pm
