inuff! I usually like the short ones, but so far this is grim...
I have a whole 40 words and only that one 6.
I found a 7 for 40, miracle of miracles
Took me a while, tons of combo tries, but I finally got the W6 27. Why is it that this game's dictionary will accept a word like that, but not 'stent,'...or was it 'stint'? Anyway, who uses that W word today? Certainly not in everyday use.
After playing this game for sometime, I begin to wonder just how many words did Chaucer contribute to the English language? And how many of them are sill in use?
Oh sure. It'll accept a prefix meaning '9', but it won't accept 'atto.'
Not that 'atto' is in this puzzle, I'm just sayin' (ranting...)
Neat! I just found the eight... it's for 50 points. (By the way, Stats Lite: 60 words total, 1 eight, 1 seven, 2 sixes, 20 fives, 36 fours)
I've clawed my way past the 40 word mark, I'm tackling the rest in the morning!
compution has such a nice ring to it though....
A ... 8
E ... 7
H ... 3
i ... 5
M ... 2
N ... 7
O ... 1
P ... 12
T ... 4
U ... 5
W ... 6
Y ... 1
Is there an 'e' in this puzzle or am I blind?
No you ar'n't blind!
Th' l'tt'r b'tw'n d and f is on babbl's bann'd list today
Okay, I give up then...how can there be 7 'e' words?
well obviously i'm trying to trick everyone.
while i'm hunting for 7x C words, everyone else is hunting for 7x E words
sorry about that ... the c looked like an e when i printed out the stats
I must be easily tricked this early in the morning! Thanks...now I know why it took 'c' words anyway! ;^}
Shortseer, can I ask where you find these stats? And, better yet, will you answer?
why shouldn't i answer?
i found out how to do it here from jmi
but it's not straightforward
you have to use one of the online solvers
i copy the solved words into the clipboard and save them in a textfile without looking at the words.
Then i run a macro in a database which imports the textfile , analyses the words and spits out the results on my printer.
jmi does something similar using a spreadsheet i think
Thanks, Shortseer, I love a challenge. Doesn't everyone know that 'ohana' means family?
Does anyone have the 6, 7 or 8s?
A6 ... To apply oil or a similar substance
C8 ... a continuous extent, succession, or whole (plural)
I7 ... something empty of meaning or sense
W6 ... bad luck, curse, plague (to do with wanining moon) [obs]
I got stuck on the last N
It was only 4 letters, so i figured i'd just "noodle" it.
It only took me 62 attempts to find it.
And when i finally did hit on it, i realised it's come up before.
(Well, at least i'm pretty sure it's permanently fixed in my memory now!)
N4 ... flat, leavened bread.
61 words / 4.51 / 643
Wow, this looks challenging! Can't withstand the call of the sirens... ;-)
Cant find the W6
Oooh, that N4 - if you like indian food you will know what it is right away. I love it!
Treble99, it is not a very common word and it doesn't end in Y.
Right, no trouble in that N4 department, only in the rest... ;-)
61 / 4.51 / 643
I cant find it and i have been looking a over an hour, I will try later
It ends in the same 3 letters as an A 5 for 10, a P 4 for 6 and a U 5 for 10 :)
This isn't Onyx's day!
Thank you. I got it at last
How many Cs are there
7 C's (where it says E it should say C)
I have 3C4s and 1C8, what am I missing
I have that plus t C 5's. I am missing one C.
that should say two c 5's
A's I have 5xAN an 2 x AU. What am I missing?
there's another C4
one more An.
All done already. This one was easy!
I found C5/14 but not the other one yet
C5/22 is the other one.
Weird. My computer keeps ringing like a phone and I don't have the software to use it as a phone. This has never happened before. Odd. Does babble make it do that sometimes?
done! now what will distract me for the rest of the work day? :)
Sounds like malware!
My computer started doing that yesterday too. I think one of the ads on the right side of the page may have sound.
This is really strange, but my puzzle does not have an E in it!
There is no E in the puzzle. That was a typo. It should have read that there are 7 Cs.
I am having the same phone ringing problem. Very weird indeed
Any clues for the C/5 for 22 please
Thanks, for the info about the c words.
I heard it yesterday and then again this morning...I thought I was losing my mind! It must be an ad.
I figured it out using point value - there's really only one combination of letters that will do the trick.
C5/22 to count.
I have no ringing at all. I would run Adaware, to be sure.
61 words 4.51 643
:-) I think this is the earliest I've ever finished a puzzle!
yup, the ringing is an obnoxious ad: "shoot the annoying cell phone guy." So it's not malware...just bad advertising!
Looks I have great protection against unwanted ads. :-D
No ringing here.
My N's are 4/4, 4/4, 5/16, 4/4, and 5/16. Am I missing something obvious?
I am missing 2Ns still.
Not too obvious, I'd say.
missing 2 i's and 2 a's
It has been brought to my attention (albeit a little rudely by gcmgolfnut) that there is a banner ad that keeps "ringing" like a phone. I apologize. I have blocked the ad from reappearing in the rotation.
The change should take about 45 minutes to take effect. So until then, my Babble friends, keep your finger on the mute button! :)
Thank you Dr. G :)
I have i4x2 and i5x1 and i7 can you tell me what I am missing
i cant find 2i5 words
i5 -- when you seek someone's advice or you enter data in a computer
i5 -- The most prominent projecting point of the occipital bone at the base of the skull
missing 2 a's have 5,6,4,4,4,5 any help out there
ok only missing 1 A5
gottem both nevermind finished!!
hey there, anyone still alive here?
yeah i just got started, some one was talking about me earlier in the log and i had to participate. so why isn't it my day sprite or were you giving a hint i am not getting?
For those of you who have finished today's puzzle and are waiting impatiently for tomorrow's, a student just told me that there are 93 words contained in the letters PLANETS. So far I have 83 with 3 questionable ones...
(Actually, there must be more, because I have 98 without the iffy ones.)
I'm missing a U and a W. Help?
Us: UN4x2, UN5x2
Ws: WA4x3, WA6x1, WO4x1
i think that the u word you are missing is a prefix for a 3 letter word- to affix
the w is a wa. hope this helps
why won't it take my last n word i saw it in an earlier grid and it won't work today!
Thank you, onyx, I got them.
Hint for the O word?
Anyone out there? Can you help
with the T's? I have 2xTi4 but that's it......
The O word is 4 letters and sounds a lot like a US state. I know it only because it's been in quite a few puzzles.
cz, tu5 x2
YAY MY FIRST TIME FINISHING THE ENTIRE PUZZLE!!!!!!!!!!
