I read that California sent some wild fire specialists down under...my cousin and his family colunteered to go but were told to wait for a second wave to be called up. Those fires are worse than anything they've seen here. VERY scary!

a few years ago we had about 30% of the open areas of CA in flames, and of course last year we lost a couple of small towns. From what I've heard, yours are MUCH worse. Both in area and lost property and lives. I feel for everone down there...and the air quality must be awful too.

The only disappointment was that the Christmas hellebore only got leaves, no flowers, but I have lots of flowers in the house: a big bouquet of pink and white tulips and gipsophilia (sp?) surrounded by several small white poinsettias plus several forced hiacinths in the kitchen and some amaryllis in bud in living room
