Our alpha female cat came to us from a drainage culvert after Katrina before the power was restored. Our dog came to us from a neighbor to my husband's hunting camp who doesn't believe in animal control. She slept in the chair on his camp's deck whether he was there or not and I finally told him to bring her home. She was the smallest and wasn't able to get to the food bowl/pile before the others had already ravaged it. I think she gained 15 lbs in her first 2 months w/us.
