Folks in town where I work have a pair of great pyr. So elegant when he walks them together. They are such a happy and friendly pair. I don't know how he ever gets them properly exercised. Everyone wants to stop and pet them.

so this might be of interest to some people - massachusetts has, for several years, undertaken serious efforts to help the native herring population rebound, after it was seriously wiped out. Yesterday beloved and I went to a local herring run, and there they were! Hundreds strong, swimming upstream, jumping up the ladders, etc. They are still no where NEAR where the number should be, but to see conservation efforts finally paying off was really something!

its just SO HARD with this one. Usually students make all kinds of gain over time - this guy hasn't gained an inch in two years, and I have varied my instruction in every way I know how, plus asked several friends in the field for advice. I had an emergency dental procedure this morning. The dentists & assistants had masks and face shields, but I overheard them telling someone they don't have enough masks for the office staff - I felt very bad for them. It's just nuts that the people there to help us can't get the protection they need. I also know some people who have to shop for themselves who also can't get their hands on a mask. I tried to buy some bandannas for them but even those are sold out. And fabric stores are closed.
