I've been having eye problems for about a month now. Seen my optician but not a hope in hell of seeing my GP any time soon. Don't know what GPs in UK are up to, other than being cowardly. The eye problem has been giving me problems with balance, focus and more. Maybe I've lost a day somewhere along the way? However, my GP MUST see me now, not offer me a phone consultation in 3 weeks' time because I'm not sure who is more worried about my blurry sight and red and inflamed lower inner eyelids right now, me or my optician. Antibiotic drops and ointment have not helped. Of course, I've Googled by now, and I don't think it's just a case of conjunctivitis or any other kind of mild infection. :(

Also, just to add insult to injury, the £750 pair of new Jaeger specs the optician gave me 2 weeks ago, that I don't even know are right yet (due to the blurry vision) fell apart last night when one of little gold nuts came off the left lense to nosepiece side and has gone God knows where.

Yes, there is an eye hospital, but you can't just drop in. You have to be referred by your GP... and the GPs don't seem to actually be working at present, unlike all other NHS workers. :(

for heaven's sake. well it looks like a trip to the ER is on the cards. if you are referred by a medico from there, that should get you into the eye hospital.

If I have actually managed to give myself orbital cellulitis (photos of which I came across whilst Googling toxoplamosis from cats) then that will be a real worry, since if left untreated by special antibiotics and hospital treatment, can lead to the infection tracking into your brain and giving you meningitis. I'm always very careful and hygeinic when dealing with my three cats' litter tray offerings, but it's a possibility I have to consider. :(
