I have never heard of anyone being 'held back' in the UK - you go onto the next year regardless of your progress in the previous one. Indeed, I knew a lad who moved from the US, where he started school a year later than most of his peers in the UK and so struggled as in many subjects, he was a year behind, but they wouldn't put him in the year he 'should' have gone into based on how much schooling he'd had in the US (IIRC, he'd finished 2nd grade in the US, but because of his age, they put him in year 4 in the UK)

I admire Kindergarten teachers. They are dealing with kids who already read, and kids who don't even know the alphabet. Kids who don't speak English. Kids on all different levels. And somehow, those teachers make that class a cohesive unit.

Sorry to here you are having flooding problems. Really sad to hear that many people have lost their personal belongings. I know peeple say your health is more important to which I do agree. You have to pay to be a member of dog parks in NY. It is Free to go to any dog park in Connecticut though so I go to the dog park in Danbury. I also paid for one dog park.
