there is a free book available for e-reading called "Now It Can Be Told". it's a bad title but a really good book. it is by a reporter who was near the front lines for pretty much all of WWI and of course his reporting was heavily censored while the war was going on. hence the book later. it's quite eye-opening in terms of how bad things were.
