hokie carla - I think Shirlock's point was that you can sometimes get more information about the word you're looking for by not playing in Hard mode in Wordle. For instance, if you already know that a letter exists and where, using a different letter in that spot allows you to find out if it is also in the word somewhere, whereas keeping the letter you know in that spot gives you no new information.
