I just remember that half a kilo is about a pound, and that 15 degrees C is 59F, and I cook mostly at 180C. The pint/gallon thing can be VERY confusing - my mother taught me 'a pint's a pound the world around' except here in the UK it's 'a pint of water is a pound and a quarter'

hokie, years ago I had cognitive behavioral therapy and it dealt with emotions being a choice. The example was, say someone walks up and slaps you on the face. In that microsecond before you react, there is a choice made in your brain. You could choose to react angrily, or surprised, or shocked, or sad, or even happy depending on your interpretation.
