I think it we name the behavior and not the person, we get a better idea of what people mean. People who use drugs are not "addicts." They are people who use drugs. Then find out how much how often and whether there is impairment. Too many identifier terms are stigmatizing.

It is a shame. If Dad moved out of the school area then Dad should agree to being a weekend Dad during the school year. But I get the "he's a mess" thing. It's hard to negotiate with people like that.
