Yes I do not like guns. I was brought up to believe they are a means of destruction (my father was a police officer). And people living in rural areas that live an off the grid life are not using assault rifles and hand guns.

I grew up in a rural area with a lot of hunters. I even had hunter's safety as part of PE when I was in high school. My dad and brothers had guns. Well, I had a couple too. Never occurred to us to use them for anything other than hunting or protection.

The second amendment applied to unorganized militia, not for random citizens to carry around in Walmart. The amendment was written after the Revolutionary War. Hunting is licensed. Nut to say that people don't need guns to hunt their food because there are all kinds of assistance programs is naive. This is a big country, but I do believe we are becoming hardened by the horrors of school shootings. If Sandy Hook didn't wake Congress up, then nothing will. That said, we are not addressing the cause of the causes. Why are so many people ending their own lives and the lives of others violently? What is the despair?

She was homeless, couch surfing across the street from me a decade ago. She was an artist, working with glass.
