i have gotten 2 d/7's... but not the d/8's... any clues on the 8's?
DIECAST isn't a valid word???

if diecast isn't a word - what are all those toys under my stairs??
A 3rd D8/45 (throws from chair)
This is way too slow ....
Found a C7/36 - 8/50 combo, but not the 10 yet...
That 10 is driving me up the walls!
C7/56 - 8/75 combo.
Found it! C8/75 - 10/119 combo (probably not a good word, but it might put you on the right track: fashionabilities)

As for the diecast: try another spelling for 'citizen eligible to sit as a judge' (ancient Athens, for the classical linguists among us).
D7/40 - hi gail!
Good morning, Tedybeth
L7/28, L7/32, L7/36
take the e out of diecast
sorry, any more clues on the c/10? still can't seem to find it... :-/
nevermind, just got it:)
i've gotten 1 L/7, any help with the other two?
i got the L/7/32
i can't believe that's a word
Ruth & Sprite... thanks for a new word.
Now... what about that C/8-C/10 combo???? I just cannot expand on the C/7 word... perhaps it's the wrong word?? ah me!
Darn.. I knew I shouldn't get back to this bloody game.... now, I have C7/8/8 combo and another C7/56, which is probably the one that has the 8-10 combo... if only I could see it.
the C/10 is the plural of <the state/degree of stylishness>
C10 - Adopting or setting current fashions and styles; sophisticated
Well, I'll be..... I saw those words soon after I found the base word, but just couldn't accept such outlandish embellishment... well, I really couldn't!!
I guess you live and learn... thanks for the confirmation...
take the first4 letters of chicken and think loch/monster add s this is for the c10
ruth - You're completely giving away words. Those aren't clues. They're just spelling the word out completely. Kind of spoils the puzzle . . .
tedybeth said D/7/36. Are you sure? I don't think you can make one with this puzzle. Since the D is 2 points, the word would need to have the D + 5 1-point letters + another 2-point letter. There isn't another 2-pointer. Have I just done my math wrong?
Ruth... you're too much... such a very subtle clue....
Testing... hit HIDE LOG, but you'll miss the fun clues.
Christine - I always start the puzzle with the log hidden and see what I can find, then I like to look through the log for clues, particularly just the points/starting letters of the big words. Reasonable clues are fun at that point, but . . .
sorry if i made it to easy but i couldnt think of any other way next time ile make things a lot harder
Ruth - a couple of hints for hints:
1) hints to the meaning of a word are more subtle than hints to how to spell it. People can do a dictionary search, or just know the word, but they have to have some word knowledge to find it.
2) If you must give a clue to how a word is spelled, be more subtle. ;) For example, your clue could be made a bit more challenging like this:
"Take the beginning of a farm bird, add a legendary monster and make it plural."
This still nearly gives it away, but does at least require some thought.
And your earlier clue about diecast is truly not a clue. It's actually the word exactly as it is in the puzzle. Best to skip that kind of clue altogether.
oops - I must have typo-d : I have 2 x D7/32; and one D7/40 Sorry for those who have searched by not found!
okay testing i no what you mean, can you explain how people get these word searchs to look for themselves what site would i need to go to
testing: I do have 2 x s7/36 - maybe that's where I goofed and mistakenly typed a 'd'. Sorry :-(
Aw, Testing... I guess I shouln't butt in...
I copy the grid to a sheet of paper, and enter my wordlist before I go to sleep. In the morning I check the clues for the 50% I didn't find on my own.
Ruthie-dear... your clues probably helped some people, so...
you could try www.a2zwordfinder.com
nobody is clever enough to find them all without some help
another good source is: thewordlist.com The Doublecross-Wordox section
I use the Wordox lists for the big ones and also a couple of scrabble word lists. There is always my crossword puzzle dictionary that I keep handy.
www.onelook.com is a good dictionary site.
Isn't dessicant a word????? It actually only shows up in one of the online dictionaries, but I know I've seen silica gel called a dessicant before. Hmmmph. Another real word unknown to babble, and then today's C10 is there. Sigh.
testing, it need two C's for Desiccant according to wordfinder
Could I have a clue for the S/9 please
Thanks! I can believe that I suppose. :D
Actually, a funny clue would be a description of food put into a container with a desiccant. :)
Lol, I just found it. Clever hint there. C.x
Sorry, confusing clue! Not a clue that you would put in with a desiccant, but the effect that a desiccant would have on a food that shouldn't have been put in there in the first place, such as bread. I guess it's a better clue after you know the word, LOL!
I had already cracked it with your hint, we were typing at the same time. There must be quite a time delay here between typing and others seeing the posting.
I think the only time delay is however long it takes someone to refresh their screen (either manually or by typing in a word). When you type a post I don't see it right away - only after my screen refreshes for some reason.
But in this case, since we were posting at exactly the same time, I'm not sure it would have made a difference anyway.
need a hint for 9 letter word
manuel - Read the last few posts.
i would appreciate it please
Oh I see, I thought it may be because it i obviously not based in the UK as it is 8.17 pm here and that there may be a delay due to that, guess I just got babbled!!!
What would you appreciate? Your clue has already been given.
carolecs62 - The times here are all US Central Time (Chicago) where the babble god resides. :)
Ooooh, that's obviously why some of the words are spelled wrong then!!! Lol.
LOL! We get both American and British spellings in here I think. I know I've been stumped not finding very British words (or spellings) and someone from over yonder will give clues to it, and then it becomes so obvious. :)
Well hello from the other side of the pond!!
Aaaagh! there is a CHAV word in this puzzle, does the US have the misfortune of having them too???, I know they can't be on here as they cannot spell!!!
2 1/2 hours 141 words and shattered, off to read the latest Dan Brown, Good afternoon to you and Goodnight from me.x
May I please have a clue for the c/8/75 and the c/8/80?
I already have the c/8/75 relating to style.
Does anyone have a clue for the S9/54? Can't find Testings earlier clue. I've been looking for ages
I have a C8/75 - movable barriers used in motor racing
Mary - if you're still looking: the S9 clue: state if having lost freshness.
