The C8 clue is very clever. The clue is not about the person, its about the type of rhyme - which is based on a person's name.
11:23 am
butterfly

the C8 - A funny poem of closed-form with four lines rhyming ABAB, usually about a famous person from history or literature

4:31 pm
Gail

L8/40 A red residual soil in humid tropical and subtropical regions that is leached of soluble minerals, aluminum hydroxides, and silica but still contains concentrations of iron oxides and iron hydroxides.

5:50 pm
DarleenMB

anyone have a clue for the W8/70? Found all kinds of other w's but not that one.
5:58 pm
periwinkle

Darleen, if you have the w/6/36, just add an ending.
6:00 pm
periwinkle

Add an S to the w/8/70 and voila w/9/90.
6:02 pm
DarleenMB

Periwinkle, I have 3 w6's but none of them "wants' anymore endings... Guess I'd better hunt up another one....
6:08 pm
fit1

tedy, is that a second a840? And does anyone have the a740? I'm going nuts
6:08 pm
periwinkle

The W/6 I am referring to is the basis for the w/7/8/9.
6:09 pm
periwinkle

w/6: shrivel, dry up
6:13 pm
DarleenMB

smack me with a dictionary, Periwinkle. I thought I had TRIED that one earlier. tsk.

8:25 pm
tedybeth

I'm soooo sorry --- just got back to the computer. my post at 5:46 p.m. is NOT a second A8 --- i had missed the first one posted in the a.m. somehow. Sorry to confuse everyone - even myself.
8:51 pm
roberts1

Too many messages to sort out. I have 10 8's:
A40
C65 X2
C80
E55
L40
L55
M50
R40
W70
and believe that there is another C65. Does anyone know what the last 8 is? I hope that it hasn't already been posted. :)
9:05 pm
onyx

c 5 20 with a suffix there was no definition
9:06 pm
tedybeth

roberts1 -- there is another C8/65. But I haven't found that last 8 word either ..???
9:07 pm
onyx

so that leaves one more. 12 8 letter words.
does any one wanna share the missing one?
9:08 pm
onyx

the c 5 is a type of quartz
9:18 pm
roberts1

Thank you for the clues. I vaguely remember the C5 but probably would not have come up with it without help. One to go! (On the 8's. Too many to go otherwise.)
9:19 pm
DarleenMB

sigh. Any clue at all for the A8?
9:20 pm
tedybeth

How does anyone ever have enough time to finish one of these larger ones??
9:21 pm
onyx

stay up all night?
9:22 pm
tedybeth

the A7/28 & A8 are based from an A5/10 that means to adjust of change
9:24 pm
tedybeth

LOL, onyx --- you're right!! I take care of my almost-3yr. old granddaughter during the day - and she doesn't take kindly to me starting at the computer instead of playing with her! And I definitely need my sleep to keep up with her!!!
9:24 pm
Uneaixoise

A8 . . . think "tailors"
9:27 pm
onyx

teddybeth,
a three year old is a whole lot better than a computer screen, my 11 year old keeps me on my toes
9:29 pm
tedybeth

Absolutely, onyx. I wouldn't trade this precious child for anything!! My daughter brought her home at age 12 months from an orphanage in Nepal --- and she has blessed us from the very first time we laid eyes on her!!
9:30 pm
tedybeth

But I can occupy her for a while with her crayons, etc., and a dvd right beside me at the computer!!! the best of both worlds!!
9:34 pm
onyx

then there is always a nap! : )
9:34 pm
roberts1

On that note, I believe I will call it a night. Good luck all in finding the last 8 and however many others you have to go. Happy hunting! :)
10:08 pm
DarleenMB

Thanks ... again, can't believe I didn't see it earlier. tsk. brain dead from the heat.
