6:04 am
Poo's Mom
poo's still snoozing but we'll be off to do the laundry soon
6:08 am

Down to 189 remaining. If I just pretent that I'm beginning a 189 word puzzle maybe I'll have more luck?
6:09 am
Poo's Mom
that might work eva! LOL
6:26 am

6:33 am

Hi everyone!
6:33 am

6:36 am

6:36 am

6:36 am

6:37 am
Babbler
I don't know the actor's name, Eva, but yes, it's the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz
6:40 am
Babbler
I'm very tempted to jump into this grid, even though I promised myself no more big grids! I think this is the biggest I've ever seen!
6:40 am
Babbler
LOL!!! I need c c c c c c c courage!
6:41 am
Eva
Makes me think of an old political joke: (I'm not doing anything useful with my brain, so might as well):
George Bush (senior), Dan Quayle(remember him?) and Bill Clinton land in Oz. Bush says "If I only had a heart". Quayle say "If I only had brain", and Clinton says "I wonder where Dorothy is".
6:41 am
Babbler
lol Eva! Haven't heard that one! : D
6:41 am
speedfreak sam
babbler- who long have you been playing babble
6:41 am
Uneaixoise
i've got that picture, eva--it was terrific!
6:42 am
Babbler
since 7 August, Sam. when did you start?
6:42 am
Uneaixoise
and cheney says, "if i only had a heart"
6:43 am
Eva
Yes, we have many who could speak that line convincingly.
6:43 am
speedfreak sam
around november 2005
6:43 am
Uneaixoise
so true
6:44 am
Babbler
we're both pretty much newbies, compared to some players, Sam. I wonder if there's been a bigger grid?
6:45 am
speedfreak sam
there was one with 418
6:47 am
speedfreak sam
does anyone have the 11???
6:48 am
Eva
sam- if you look back a while there are good clues for the 11. It begins with en10 and then the plural.
6:49 am
speedfreak sam
I cant do any of the others.
6:50 am
Eva
They are nouns, made out of a verb that has to do with tying up your shoes. It means to twist together.
6:51 am
Alien
ok I just started--is there and extra "al" word that is not on the list? Specifically an " al 4/4 "
6:53 am
Eva
alien, I can't use the list for this big a puzzle - destroys my vision and neck, so I'm just free styling here for the moment. Will probably look at the list when (yeah, fat chance) I'm down to under 30. Now I'm still missing 168!
6:57 am
Babbler
Good going, Eva! I know what you mean, that's what's putting me off playing this big a grid - too painful! Was it ok getting to the point you're at now?
6:59 am
speedfreak sam
I can't get the eleven.
7:05 am
Atalante
there was a 500+grid once that I remember!
7:07 am
speedfreak sam
wow! I have to go eat be back in a mo..
7:08 am
Babbler
hi Atalante : ) when was that?
7:09 am
Atalante
way before the newer influxes of people! I can't remember - not long after I started ... which was ages ago
7:12 am
Babbler
I'm scared of this grid. : /
I'll go get the papers and think about it.....
My icon was an apt choice, wasn't it? lol
7:12 am
Atalante
I'm scared of it too. Why I just started, I'll never know!
7:13 am
Babbler
heh heh.... I haven't entered a single word! been listening to music and drinking tea instead.... (avoidance tactics!)
7:14 am
Atalante
I just started with the firm idea in my head that I've no intention of finishing it, just having fun. Easier that way!
7:14 am
EasternBlue
Babbler...you're smart...I 'checked' it out at the 'flip' and then started to enter words after I said I wasn't going to!!
Hello Everyone!
7:15 am
Babbler
EB !!! :D xxx
7:15 am
Uneaixoise
jump in, babbler--you can do it!
7:16 am
Babbler
that's a good way of looking at it, Atalante. I started off like that.... now I seem to be determined to finish. Maybe I need to take a leaf out of your book. : )
7:16 am
Babbler
but Une, I haven't got any c c c c c c c c courage! : /
7:16 am
Atalante
I'm usually determined to finish, but with this one? I know its probably unrealistic ... so I'm giving up the competitiveness for one day!
7:17 am
Uneaixoise
just follow the yellow brick road . . . . follow follow follow follow
7:17 am
EasternBlue
the other day (I think it was a 290)...I thought I had 2 1/2 hours to finish a grid (it was a late night & I wasn't paying attention)...I got 1/2 the grid completed without going crazy!
7:18 am
EasternBlue
Babs - it's there inside you all along!
7:18 am
Babbler
I think that was another one I skipped, EB. I was sorely tempted, but managed to resist... : /
7:19 am
EasternBlue
See...you do have courage!!
7:19 am
Babbler
lol Une! Now I've got that song on my brain..... : )
7:20 am
Babbler
I haven't got the c c c courage to play such a big grid, though, EB.. : /
7:20 am
Uneaixoise
just watch out for flying monkeys!
7:20 am
Atalante
its exactly the same as a "normal" grid! just a bit ... bigger ...
7:21 am
Babbler
lol! we had monkeys as our theme on Friday! gosh, definitely a wizard of oz thing going on right now!
7:22 am
Uneaixoise
i have a friend who, well into adulthood, still had nightmares about those flying monkeys!
7:24 am
Babbler
well, I'm off to get the papers. mayyyyyyybe see you later....... ; )
7:25 am
Atalante
as if you'll be able to resist much longer ...!
7:25 am
EasternBlue
Babs - you can always come back to just 'chat'!!
7:26 am
Babbler
*chortle* I probably will, EB! ...and continue to resist the urge to enter a word for the next 16 hours! lol
7:29 am
EasternBlue
Babs....that would be a record I believe...!!
7:36 am
speedfreak sam
I'm back!
7:37 am
EasternBlue
Hello again Sam!
7:46 am
shorty
hello everyone wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to big for me today
7:47 am
EasternBlue

7:47 am
speedfreak sam
Hi shorty!
7:49 am

7:50 am
speedfreak sam
Once they had 500+
7:50 am
shorty

7:51 am
speedfreak sam

8:08 am
Marc Freeman
Slap my head I got it.
Anyone have a clue for en10
8:09 am
melissamay
It's the noun form of another word for entwine -- with a similar construction. The earlier clue said think of what you do with your shoes, then plural.
8:10 am
EasternBlue
marc...
en + 'shoe' _ _ _ _ + 'apart'_ _ _ _
the ll is the plural
8:12 am
Marc Freeman
Sorry don't get the shoe
8:13 am
EasternBlue
Marc - you tie them...
8:16 am
Babbler
oooh!! guess what? The Wizard of Oz is on tv today!!! yayyyyyyyyy!! :D (sorry, just had to share....)
8:17 am

8:17 am
Babbler

8:18 am
melissamay
Soo...does anyone have any of the big em words? I don't even see the small ones!
8:18 am
Marc Freeman
Thanks I got the en6 now working on the last two letters, am I in the right direction?
8:18 am
Babbler
EB, I've got a plan..... I'm going to do today's jobs, then an hour on my bike, then I'll play!! Gotta have a go at the monster grid!
8:18 am
EasternBlue
no...
8:19 am
EasternBlue
Babs - resistance is futile!
8:20 am
EasternBlue
but that sounds like a good plan!!
8:20 am
Babbler
do you like my icon? I took a b&w photo and souped it up!
8:21 am
EasternBlue
wow! I thought it was an actual art piece!! verrrry cool!!!!!!!!
8:21 am
Marc Freeman
Eastern was that no for me. If so where am I going wrong.
8:21 am
melissamay
Yes, Marc, the big ens are derived from the en 6/21. Think the m___ (mind) strain of completing this puzzle for the last 4 letters of it.
8:21 am
Babbler
tee hee!! I can't draw like you can, so I have to go down other avenues!
8:22 am
Gwen
melissamay, MA8/50 there was a ma8 at LittleBigHorn to Gen. Custer's men
8:22 am
Eva
Babbler-sort to have dropped out of sight but was soaking in the tub with epson salts. So, no, I can't play for more than aboiiut 15 mninutes without causing pain that doesn't necessarily lift when I stop. But of course I get caught up and go for too long. You'd think I'd know better by the ripe old age of 56, but no.Sounds like you know the story all too well yourself.
8:22 am
EasternBlue
sorry Marc...the no was for the em's
8:23 am
melissamay
Gwen, I was actually looking for the EMs...but that was a nice big MA that I didn't have, so thanks anyway!
8:23 am
Babbler
yes, Eva. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so I'm in the same boat as you... : / boring, isn't it? : (
8:24 am
Eva
Saw a good T-shirt the other day: "Don't make me send the flying monkeys after you!"
They scared me a lot more than the witches when I was little. I used to close my eyes when they appeared.
8:24 am
Marc Freeman
Thanks I don't get it I typed in that word before and it didn't work.
Have to go now with 333 left. Thanks all and see you later.
8:25 am
Gwen
em7/36 - The white stones are diamonds, the green ones are em7
8:25 am
melissamay
The big be words are fun -- some nice ones in there! I especially like the be 7/78 combo meaning old woman.
8:25 am
EasternBlue
Bye Marc...
8:25 am
Eva
Babbler-well, we're fibro buddies. A pain in the a__ (except that's one of the few places it isn't) isn't it? And I refuse to not enjoy life anyway, so so most of what I want, sometimes on medication if it gets too bad, but still moving. Went to bed feeling fine, thinking of painting the bathroom this morning, and woke at 4 am very much not fine. Oh well, so it goes.
8:26 am
melissamay
Ah Gwen, thank you so much! Appropriate, given the film everyone's talking about.
8:27 am
Babbler
I hear you, Eva! : /
Pleasure to meet a fibro-buddy! You'll have to let me know what the advice is in the states, and I'll share what they say in the UK... babbler_2005@yahoo.co.uk
8:27 am
Gwen
need clue for last as7. I have the back of the boat
8:28 am
melissamay
Sorry, Gwen, I wish I could help but I don't have it either.
8:28 am
Eva
It's a deal Babbler- I have to get off now so my husband can use the phone, but will write later.
8:29 am
EasternBlue
Gwen...I don't have it yet...
8:29 am
Babbler

8:31 am

9:01 am
Atalante

9:02 am
DarleenMB

9:02 am
evanonut
* tosses cold water on darleen *
9:03 am
EasternBlue

9:03 am
evanonut

9:03 am
DarleenMB

9:04 am

9:04 am
evanonut

9:05 am
Gwen
Thanks Atlante!!! Got it with your clue
9:05 am
DarleenMB
Balance? Evan you must be joking?!

9:06 am
evanonut
darleen, i got narcotics...would you like one?
9:07 am
DarleenMB
um, yes, please Evan. Pass 'em over.
9:07 am
evanonut
the thing about these big puzzles is, so long as i don't think about that final number, i feel like i'm doing a really good job.
9:07 am
evanonut
one or two dar dear?
9:08 am
DarleenMB
Well yeah. It's real easy to get a couple hundred words with little effort. Then the real fun begins. {gag}
9:08 am
DarleenMB
Oh evan, one will be plenty. thanks.
9:09 am
evanonut
chucks a good pill at dar

9:14 am

9:15 am
DarleenMB

9:16 am
DarleenMB
Ooh just saw the tshirt post from earlier. Got a good one ... I was going to conquer the world but got distracted by something sparkly. hee hee. hubby says that's me all right.

9:17 am
Eva
No, woke up at 4 am and began playing, then breaks for bath, cat, wood, and back again.
9:18 am
DarleenMB
um, you bathed the cat? giggle
9:18 am
evanonut
ooooh - wood, thanks for the reminder eva
9:19 am
Eva
If I had bathed the cat I would now be applying bandages (to myself, not him). He does not suffer such indignities quietly.
9:20 am
DarleenMB
lol, yeah, I know, I know. We had a white cat once who got locked in our dirt floor garage overnight. We HAD to bathe him as the previuos owner had poured motor oil on the dirt to keep the dust down. THAT was fun. not.
9:21 am
evanonut
my cats take it in stride, of course they're odd. they also like the vet.
9:21 am
Eva
Yes,mine can turn into the cat from hell when threatend by water-although he likes to watch it and loves being brushed.
9:22 am
DarleenMB
We had a cat (our all time best, btw) who (being part manx) LOVED the water. He'd climb right into the tub with you.

does that darn as 7 really exist?? I cannot get it for the life of me!!!
9:23 am
Eva
don't let your present cat hear that. Ours is part Maine Coon, so very doglike, following us from room to room, but everything has to be on his terms - not a lap cat.
9:24 am
DarleenMB
yup, EB, sorry. It was the first word I got (thanks a lot atlante for sucking me into the monster grid)
9:24 am
DarleenMB
Eva, hubby wants a maine coon. We love our kitties. (don't tell the dog)

9:27 am
Munner
Eva - a honey of a clue. Thanks
9:27 am
Eva
I think like all animals, the meanness has little to do with the breed and more to do with the individual, sometimes trauma. Ours had been abused as a kitten, and it took him a long time to figure out that life could be good and safe. But he is very affectionate now, and mainly refrains from mauling us. Since he's only part Maine Coon (the rest is black & white longhair) he doesn't have the usual mammoth size - 23-25 pounds. Our next cat (but of course Merp is going to live forever!) will be a Maine Coon, if we can find one at the pound.
9:28 am
periwinkle
Darleen, thanks so much, found them both right away with your great clue

11:22 am
GreyWoulf
ZA -- the idea behind the icon theme days is just to have fun seeing what kind of diverse imagery we can come up with -- participation is voluntary
My 2yo daughter LOVES the Badger, Badger, Badger flash and always asks to see it when I log on, thus the theme is born ;)
11:23 am
GreyWoulf

11:25 am
Uneaixoise
jera, when my daughter was very small we took her to a local production of the Wizard of Oz--we knew the cast and they kindly seated us on the aisle which doubled as the yellow brick road . . . BUT when Dorothy et al. exited thru the curtain at the end of the scene where they head for Oz, Jennifer leapt up and followed them off stage!! :-)
11:25 am
GreyWoulf

11:28 am
Jera
Why is tassle not a word??
11:28 am
GreyWoulf

But Google Image search can sometimes amaze you with how many pics that relate to a particular topic are out there ;D
11:28 am
Babbler

11:29 am

GreyWoulf
I don't have that option, c-nan -- my printer is down so I am stuck with on screen reconciliation -- much slower, but it works :)
I only have 222 to go, though
12:17 pm
hurshy
well, cyber, i spent 2.75 hours working on it when it first appeared (up very late!), getting 309 words. i have now been at it for almost 2 hours since getting up, and have 64 left to find.
12:18 pm
cybernan
I thought you meant you had over 400 -- I have 203 to go.
Do you have a clue for the ad's?
12:19 pm
hurshy
ad7 - very insistent
12:19 pm
cybernan
Ooh, GW -- don't think I could survive without my printer!
12:19 pm
hurshy
i do have over 400 - are you mixing up me and GW?
12:20 pm
cybernan
Thanks, Hurshy -- just couldn't see it!
12:21 pm
GreyWoulf
the big issue is taht something in my core operating system prog has flipped a bad bit or something -- my neighbor says I need to reinstall, but I do not have the ability to do it on my own so I have to wait for him to be available
12:21 pm
cybernan
I keep wondering, though, how is it that an adjective can be pluralized? -------- french, yes, but English?
12:22 pm
hurshy
cyber- i think it has another meaning too, as a noun
12:23 pm
cybernan
GW - check to see if you have to reinstall, or reformat the hard drive -- if it is the latter, you'll need to get busy burning all your important files on a cd.
12:25 pm
Jera
200 to go... gotta take a warm-up break & watch 1900 house... later all!
12:25 pm
GreyWoulf
I know c-nan -- I 've been putting that off though I should do it anyway :)
At least, the majority of my stuff is on a data drive so that my C: drive doesn't have too much on it that can can fragged
12:27 pm
Uneaixoise
oh, i loved 1900 House!
12:31 pm
lottijw
Hi Guys ((GW))
Well I haven`t entered a single word today.....and now I`m back from Christmas shopping, looking at this grid I`m not likely to bother!!!!
12:31 pm
hurshy
hey lotti. :) nice to see you.
12:32 pm
GreyWoulf
((*lotti*))
Awww, C'mon lotti! all the cool kids are doing it! ;D
12:32 pm
Dachef
I used to print off the word list and reconcile, but one day my printer had a strop and I discovered a new way of doing it - I copied the wordlist into notepad, and simply transfered my list onto it. Its much easier cos you can have the notepad window open alongside the babble window and oimmediately see where your gaps are!!
I would not go back to paper now!
12:32 pm
lottijw
Have you got far with it Hurshy?? :)
12:32 pm
Dachef
Hi Lotti! Chicken!
12:33 pm
hurshy
yeah, dachef, i do that do, only in Word. and i set it up in columns so i can see more of the list at once.
12:33 pm
hurshy
yes, lotti, only 51 left to find. but *shudder*, i've just hit the re's
12:33 pm
GreyWoulf
Dachef -- what I typically do is have multiple active windows open -- this way I can get a real time update vs teh 2nd letter list
Not being able to print out means I can bring the grid to work with me though -- (glad I am off today as a result :D )
12:34 pm
lottijw
Oh yeah Dachef....thats me today, very, very yellow!!! Nah i`m not gonna start!! I only came for a Tor hug anyway :) !!!!

LeslieAnn
tsm, en + what you have on tennis shoes (singular) + would you like a dinner ****? change the second letter to another vowel
1:02 pm
hurshy
toesock - start with la4 shoela**
add prefix for en6

1:06 pm
hurshy
thanks peri, atalante. atalante, how many left now?
1:09 pm
GreyWoulf
the a's are driving me nuts --- darn this an4/4 retentive nature of mine!
still need the am7/36, 1st as5/6 pair, and the as7
1:09 pm
Atalante
still 99 LOL - I had to go and get dinner shoved into the oven! Back on the case now :)
1:09 pm
periwinkle
Can't find either i word, are they obvious ones?
1:11 pm
hurshy
yes peri, you don't want clues for that
1:11 pm
hurshy
am 7/36 - think of a food your baby eats, change the ppl to an m and remove the u
1:12 pm
ToeSockMonkey
Thank you so much Leslie!
1:12 pm
hurshy
as 5 and 6 not EXACTLY a pair, but the 6 does add one letter to the 5
the as5 is a flower
the as6 means off the rear of the boat
1:13 pm
hurshy
and once you have as6, your options for what can come after that alphabetically and be a 7 are extremely limited, that's how i got that 7
1:13 pm
ToeSockMonkey
Thanks hurshy!
1:19 pm
ruffh2o
aaaagh!! 474 words?!?!?!
1:19 pm
GreyWoulf
I meant the very 1st 5/6 after the 4/4, hursh - got the flower and nautical :)
1:20 pm
DarleenMB
ruffh20, hahahahaha, LMAO. EXACTLY what I said. Have fun.
1:21 pm
ruffh2o
wondering if I should even start this one...
1:22 pm
cybernan
Well done, Hurshy! -- still have 103
1:22 pm
DarleenMB
Hey might as well jump in and join the rest of us!
1:23 pm
ruffh2o
ruff stands at the edge of the grid, holds her nose, closes her eyes, and jumps in.
1:23 pm
hurshy
sorry GW i read 1st as last somehow
1:23 pm
ruffh2o
the resulting tidal wave washes everybody out of the chat room
1:24 pm
hurshy
that as6 means to attack
the as5, chop off last letter
1:24 pm
DarleenMB
Aw ruffh20, not that bad. I'm still swimmin'!
1:24 pm
hurshy
(those as's have double consonant)
1:25 pm
hurshy
did you get the others, GW?
and peri, did you find the i's?
1:25 pm
GreyWoulf
(*Splutter, choke*)
(*furiously doggy paddling against the wave*)
'Sok, hursh -- I am just feeling REALLY dense right now cos I can't seem to wrap my head around the other two :\
1:26 pm
ruffh2o
ruff tosses gw some water wings
1:26 pm
hurshy
oh, sorry GW. my clues weren't good.
1:27 pm
GreyWoulf
got the 5/6, hursh!
1:27 pm
hurshy
trying again.
am7 - same 1st 3 letters as prev word. then add consonant, then add the highest (or lowest) card in a deck
1:27 pm
ruffh2o
I'd offer to help, but I just started.
1:27 pm
hurshy
as7 - add "___ we meet again" and "to __ or not to __"
1:29 pm
GreyWoulf
Thank you hursh -- now I have 6 grey boxes on my stat grid
1:30 pm
hurshy
appropriate, since you are grey
1:30 pm
ruffh2o
I only have two grey boxes, and one was a freebie
1:31 pm
GreyWoulf
so was one of mine, ruff ;)
1:31 pm
GreyWoulf
back in a bit, baby is having a meltdown :)
1:38 pm
Atalante

1:38 pm
ToeSockMonkey
ok I am done for now. I might be back later :)
1:42 pm
LeslieAnn
OK, done with the vowels, 200 to go. seems a good spot for a break. bbl.
1:51 pm
Kelstar
any SA-7, and 8 clues, please?
1:54 pm
hurshy
sa7 - an article of clothing is a ga7 (not in puzzle), rhymes with that.
sa8 - add vowel
sa8 - pl
1:56 pm
Babbler

1:56 pm
Kelstar
Thanks, Hurshy!
1:57 pm
hurshy
babs - 5 hours was a little on the slow side for me, but then, i was v. sleepy for the first 309, between 1 and 2:45 AM
1:58 pm
ruffh2o
don't you ever sleep, hurshy?
1:58 pm
hurshy
yes ruff :) i slept from 3 to 11:30, then got up and finished babbling :)
1:59 pm
hurshy
i don't USUALLY babble at such ungodly hours, but it's christmas vacation so i thought what the heck?
1:59 pm
ruffh2o
ah. you have vacation. keeping hours like that would totally mess up my week.
2:00 pm
hurshy
the perks of being a teacher...
2:01 pm
hurshy
anyway, babbler, you can't count the time you aren't at the computer - you haven't really been babbling for 10 hours real time, have you?
2:01 pm
hurshy
go atalante!!!
2:01 pm
Babbler
oh heck, I'm not sure I'm as good as you, hurshy.. :/
smaller puzzles have taken me longer! I might be here for the whole 10 hours...
2:01 pm
Babbler
no hurshy, I really have been avoiding it! lol !
2:01 pm
ruffh2o
well, I'm going to put this on hold for awhile, and head off to the boat parade. good luck, everybody!
2:02 pm
hurshy
bye ruff!
so then babs, you may be very good, but you aren't exercising your courage. :)
2:03 pm
ruffh2o
it's the brain that I'm lacking...
2:03 pm
Babbler
nope, I am absolutely pathetic and am usually here till dawn!! I'm scaaaaaaared ! :' (
2:03 pm
hurshy
with brandyjack's list, i firmly believe it's just a matter of patience and persistence
2:03 pm
Babbler
*cowardly lion type sobs*
2:04 pm
Babbler
I saw the list..... that's what frightened me!
*more cowardly lion type sobs* :'(
2:04 pm
hurshy
oh, babbler dear, it's ok. i do keep forgetting that you brits are on a different schedule. it's only midafternoon here.
2:05 pm
hurshy

AS for themes for next week -- what's wrong with Christmas? ... or Hanukkah?
2:14 pm
GreyWoulf
Back for a bit while Kirstianna enjoys her first ever blueberry muffins --
I have no prob with either of those -- that is why I chose to wait until the day after Xmas to request the badgers --- that and that will be the next day I am off during the day to show the baby ;)
2:15 pm
cybernan
an 6/21?
2:16 pm
GreyWoulf
oops -- KRIStianna
(Bad Daddy -- misspelling your own daughter's name!!!)
2:18 pm
GreyWoulf
an6 == en6 that starts the 10, swap the vowels
2:25 pm
cybernan
Thank you, GW.
be 7/44 (last one), please?
2:26 pm
cybernan
Never mind -- just realized I forgot to pluralize the 6/30
2:27 pm
GreyWoulf
don't know if I have it -- working on the b's myself :)
I have the plural of the asylum but that's it
2:27 pm
cybernan
The first be 6/30?
2:27 pm
Yvo

2:29 pm
GreyWoulf
Thank you much :)
2:29 pm
hurshy
at 5/10 a plus ti4
2:30 pm
hurshy
there's no at 7/36
there is an as 7/36

2:30 pm
hurshy
be 6/30 consign to perdition
2:31 pm
hurshy
cyber - you all set with the be's now?
2:31 pm
hurshy
btw, girlfriday, LOVE that movie
2:33 pm
cybernan
There's an at 7/36? - brandy's list only has two!
2:33 pm
girlfriday
hursy: Thanks for the clues. Never would have gotten the long one, the other, I just misseed. THanks. It's my favorite movie....The best dialogue ever!
2:34 pm
cybernan
done with the be's thanks, hurshy. Looking for the bl 4's following the knife part
2:35 pm
GreyWoulf
c-nan -- it has a Scottish spelling
2:37 pm
hurshy
and for the second bl4 there, just cut the e off the following 5
2:37 pm
GreyWoulf
the B's have gone grey!
2:37 pm
hurshy
girlfriday - my favorite is "bringing up baby"
2:37 pm
hurshy
good job, GW!
2:39 pm
girlfriday
Hurshy: It's a tough choice between the two...I think I like HGF only because Bringing Up Baby is so perfect... HGF is a little urban and rough. Also love Philadelphia Story. And On the 20th Century, of course.
2:39 pm
cybernan
got the bl 4's, thanks........
Just realized I still don't have the first be 6/30 -- is that the one that is consigned to perdition? -- thought that was a bl.
2:40 pm
GreyWoulf
Ye Gods! There's a boatload of ca's, aren't there?
2:40 pm
hurshy
yes, be 6/30 is the perdition one :)
2:41 pm
hurshy
girlfriday - philadelphia story (and high society!) great too. the perfection of bringing up baby doesn't bug me - i like idealism.
2:41 pm
Babbler
*takes deep breath.... dives into grid*
2:43 pm
girlfriday
Hurshy, I agree BUB is perfect. I think I was a journalist for a long time and that's probably why I love HGF...also the dialogue is so fast in that one...but I do love BUB...okay, tied' for first!!! And what about It happened one night? And Awful Truth....oh, we could go on...then I won't finish the puzzle!
2:44 pm
harpjane
em 7 & 8?
2:45 pm
GreyWoulf
Don't you hate when you are trying a random combo, only to realise it is an anagram of the right word you were looking for in the first place, but you already hit enter so you get that hated 'Oops!' message
(wow, talk about poor grammar!)
2:46 pm
cybernan
not a word in my vocab, hurshy -- just don't see it!
2:46 pm
harpjane
um, yeah sure, GW, I hate that...(what the heck's he talking about?)
2:48 pm
cybernan
Just found it! **hanging my head**
2:48 pm
GreyWoulf
harp -- just Babbling! I had just monkeyed a combo when I saw that it would be a word if I transposed two letters, but had already hit enter, so coudn't fix it :)
2:50 pm
harpjane
Yeah GW, but sometimes it turns out that it WAS a word!
2:51 pm
hurshy
em 7/8 - to radiate forth from
2:51 pm
GreyWoulf
true -- but I KNEW this one was wrong ;D
2:51 pm
trishtrash
Evening everyone... before I take (yet another) break, can someone help me with the He9 and the Be9?
Thanks
2:51 pm
hurshy
cyber - which, the be or "consign" or "perdition" (maybe look those up?) :)
2:51 pm
hurshy
girlfriday - you THINK you were a journalist? don't you know?
2:52 pm
hurshy
be9 is pl of be8 - compound word. the thing you sleep in plus picture fr5.
2:52 pm
hurshy
he9 - recluse
2:53 pm
hurshy
i also love the original "mr. deeds goes to town"
2:53 pm
girlfriday
I know, I read that after posting it and realized the "I think" was in the wrong place....clearly my forte wasn't editing...
2:53 pm
GreyWoulf
son of a gun, hurshy! That is there!!
I looked for it but didn't see it -- I so have to master the fine art of looking around ALL the corners :D
2:53 pm
trishtrash
Bah... proof that I do indeed need a break. Thanks Hurshy :)
2:53 pm
GreyWoulf
referring to the em's there -- log ran away from me ;)

3:10 pm
Dachef
coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, ad infinitum.
3:11 pm
evanonut
dachef - i'd tell you tea instead of coffee since it reduces the risk of ovarian cancer, but i don't think that's a worry for you.
3:11 pm
Anj
....about 3 and a half hours here...
That was down to the As... 53 As... It's wrong, I tell you... WRONG! : /

People have to remember to read the definition to make sure it doesn't include the word itself. Very sloppy sort of definition if you ask me when you have to use a word to define itself. Oh well, I guess it's better than the definition of two being 'not three'.....
3:41 pm
hurshy
oh yeah, i didn't even notice the el4 bit
3:41 pm
Dachef
Babbler - you think thats wise? That means you'll have to do the a's last. I think I would probably scream if I had to do the a's last.

Hey Babbler it's Eva. The tingling is extending down my left shoulderblade to my leg. We both know better than this. Are you remembering to get up and move around frequently? STRETCH????I'm at 359 words and am going to allow myself another 10 minutes and then shut down. You need sleep or you'll regret it. Sorry for sounding maternal-I'm really talking to myself, but at least it's only 9:36pm here. Did you get my email?
8:31 pm
mab
Jera, the opposite of mistress. re your ma6.
8:31 pm

That would be an 8, mab... I'm missing a 6.
8:32 pm
Jera
Then what the heck am I missing??
*sobs piteously into keyboard*
8:33 pm
Babbler
Hi Eva!! I was just thinking of checking my mail.. I'll do it in a sec. Thanks for the mothering - I need to be told sometimes. I've got the tingling going up into my jaw, but that's it. I've been remembering to get up every hour, move around, and I was just planning a little boogie..... :D
8:33 pm
mab
Think of a man and his dog. The man is said to be the dog's ma6.
8:33 pm
Anj
Jera, that's all the 6's you've listed.
Try pressing f5 to refresh - you may have one hiding...

8:35 pm
mab
I've refreshed a zillion times and still can't see the perfect Babbler eyebrow. My cache must be full; can't imagine how to empty it.
8:35 pm
Eva
Babbler I haven't been following my own good advice. Every hour is not enough....every 10 minutes or so is more like it. Luckily my cat has been having problems tonight which I won't describe for all concerned, far too gross, but they have necessitated my getting up periodically to do checks of his nether quarters. Otherwise I'd be in worse shape!

8:38 pm
Jera
Well, I guess I'll be happy with 474... it's not like I get a point bonus for finishing...
8:38 pm
Eva
Goodnight all! 114 words to go but then nothing in life is ever "finished" is it? My body is demanding that I do something else - like stretch out, sleep, relax, etc. See you tomorrow.
8:38 pm
Babbler
re6/18 and 28 - shopping!
8:38 pm
Anj
