pugs, how about you microwave a towel. there is usually enough moisture, even in a dry towel, for a microwave to give you a warm, moist pack. it only needs about 5-10 seconds. depending on the size of your microwave.

You have the right attitude mael, just keep upright and moving, it makes the labor go faster. I made the mistake of NOT doing that with my first. With the second hubby and I walked until I was in transition, LOL I'd walk a few steps, contraction would hit and I would lean over on him and breathe.

Here's a tip, mael....if you have back labor, have someone push pressure points on the insides of both your knees simultaneously...completely takes back labor away while they're doing that. My husband came out of our second son's birth with cramped hands!

My third child and only girl was only 5 hrs. start to finish and they had to tell me I was having contractions most of that time....I was playing Trivial Pursuit with the hubby! Also, I was induced all three times because I just don't go into labor on my own...don't believe the stories...no big deal and then they can move you right along.

Actually, mael, if you get them "under control" when they're really young, you'll be in good shape. If I told my kids "do this or else," you could take "or else" to the bank..it was going to happen. phand, I worked as an aide in my hometown nursing home through high school. After the past several years with DH and elderly relatives in different ones, I know it's a lot different than back in the 60's.
I thoroughly loved working with the elderly population, always have and always will (which is a good thing since I'm turning into one!!).
