Good morning, babblers
5:38 am
Scrabbler
How are you feeling today, Crossy?
5:39 am
crosshair
Not too rough at the moment. Just taking it easy, staying hydrated, soups/broths, lots of sleep.
5:40 am
crosshair
Just have to ride it out.
5:41 am
crosshair
More than a man-cold, less than the full blown flu it seems.
5:43 am
crosshair
The biggest pain is everything wants to go right to the lungs, but I have my puffers at need.
5:44 am
Scrabbler
Did you do a COVID test? Best done on day 4 of illness. Swab throat, inside of cheeks, then nose.
5:45 am

I have a test kit at the ready and will do the swab day after tomorrow.

Autocorrect drives me nuts.
5:49 am

this time is *is* the keyboard
5:50 am

Especially when using M.S Word.
5:51 am
Scrabbler
Autocorrect creates some odd mistakes. I try to be careful before hitting SEND
5:51 am
Book Doctor Gwen
i have a laptop with a keyboard that is too small so I have a spare keyboard hooked up to it, and if I type too fast I get dounle letters sometimes
5:52 am

5:53 am

thank goodness there's no autocorrect in this chatbox
5:53 am

Lol, that would be a nightmare!
5:54 am

The worst we do is toss free clues in the chat, and that is very generous.
5:54 am

autocorrect prolly doesn't understand "chatbox" or "prolly"

Good evening, Babblers.:) Taking a small break from a book I started today called Hail Mary, by Andy Weir. Seems pretty good so far, but I am only about 25 pages in or so. Every time I pick up a novel these days, I realize how much I miss the act of reading a very good story, and give myself heck for allowing the internet and social media go gobble up most of the idle time I use to spend lost in a good book. I always think of how good it is, and why don't I read like I used to back in the day. The internet is easy, but the books--the books are much more rewarding to my soul. I need a good power outage for a week or so. Lots of sandwiches by candlelight, beverages of an adult nature, and a good story to fall into. :)

Crossy, I read that book a few months ago and was thrilled. I grew up devouring the masters of science fiction and Hail Mary rates right up there with with Asimov, Ellison, Zelzany, Blish, etc. I haven't decided if I want to watch the movie yet.

One thing I used to love about Asimov's sort stories were his "zinger" endings. He would hit you with something so climatic, so unexpected that you would find yourself pondering it while staring at a blank wall for ten minutes after you turned the last page.

I have dual citizenship too.
Pen, if you need any assistance with genealogy proof let me know. You only need 1 Canadian in the line, and so only 1 certified birth certificate for that grandparent.

No, but the BanQ in Quebec should have them. Visit their website. But first, I suggest you search the free databases at www.familysearch.org. There may be posted records there.
Goodnight crossy.
